Ronnie “RnB” Bell is a celebrated Southern Soul and R&B vocalist known for his powerful, soulful voice and undeniable stage presence. A native of Walker, Louisiana, Ronnie’s passion for music ignited early at the age of five, when he began singing at Gloryland Church of God in Christ. Immersed in the rich musical traditions of his community and influenced by a family of vocalists and musicians, Ronnie found inspiration from iconic artists such as Ray Charles, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, and gospel legend John P. Kee. These influences shaped his unique sound—a smooth falsetto paired with an unmistakable Southern charm that crosses genres, capturing elements of R&B, Blues, and Southern Soul. Despite obstacles in his youth, Ronnie found solace and purpose in music. By the age of fifteen, his talent and determination led him to join the highly regarded gospel group, George Perkins and the Voices of Harmony, founded by his great uncle, gospel singer George Perkins. His time with the group honed his vocal abilities and opened doors to new opportunities, including a spot with Kenneth Mitchell and the Voices of Praise. Ronnie’s distinct voice and dynamic stage presence earned him a place in the Top Dog Finals of the Apollo Theater’s Original Amateur Night, a pivotal moment that gave him the exposure and momentum to continue pursuing music. From 2003 to 2011, Ronnie performed at prestigious events like the Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands at the New Orleans Superdome and Southern University Homecoming halftime show as a guest soloist for the Southern University Marching Band. From 2002 to 2008, Ronnie was a member of the esteemed Southern University Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Charles Lloyd Jr., performing at prestigious stages such as Fisk University Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall. He has shared the stage with prominent artists, opening for stars such as Juvenile, Erykah Badu, Brian McKnight, Patti LaBelle, Mint Condition, 112, and Bun B. This period marked a time of tremendous growth for Ronnie, establishing him as an emerging talent in the Southern Soul and R&B scenes. Ronnie’s breakout came with his hit single “Cotton Candy,” a fan favorite that resonated deeply within the Southern Soul community from Texas to the East Coast. His ability to craft songs with emotional depth and a relatable Southern charm has endeared him to fans, who connect with his stories of love, resilience, and celebration. Since 2019, he has been a prominent figure on the star-studded Blues is Alright tour, where his vibrant performances, soulful ballads, and crowd engagement have solidified his place as a Southern Soul favorite. His music is more than entertainment; it’s an invitation for listeners to find joy, comfort, and a shared sense of humanity. Ronnie’s lyrics and performances reflect his own vulnerabilities and experiences, and he openly shares his journey, encouraging fans not to take life too seriously and to find solace in music. For Ronnie, R&B/Soul is not just a genre but a way of life: “I am motivated and determined to share my passion for music in every city and with every person who listens. R&B/Soul isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. I live it, breathe it, and give my all in every ballad and tune I let flow from my soul.” With exciting projects on the horizon, Ronnie continues to rise as an influential voice in Southern Soul, bringing his story and music to audiences across the country, and creating a lasting legacy marked by authenticity, soul, and an unwavering dedication to his craft.
