A new album release from Oakland Rain brings together beautiful elements of classic and rustic folk approaches with contemporary pop undertones and a slew of honesty and personality that you end up letting yourself get engulfed in.
The Twin Flames Part 1: The Evergreen album is lush with warm instrumentation, acoustic tonality, and Americana underbelly which all gets wrapped up and rolled into one record that creates its own atmosphere in the process.
This is an atmosphere you don't want to leave and there are beautiful layers of not only texture but thought that are put into this album so, as you listen to it unfold, you were able to soak all these layers in and really hold on to the sentiments that the songs give off.
At times, it feels as if this record is a concept album of sorts because the songs feel like they do interconnect in different ways.
I love how almost fantastical some of these tracks come across. Even songs that are a little bit more stripped down with acoustic guitar and vocals have a sort of dreamy undertone to them and it's something that quickly becomes almost like a staple for the record's aesthetic.
One of the other aspects of this release that grabs you is the honesty. There are so many truths to these songs and layers of these inner thoughts that come spilling out so you really get the feeling that all of this is authentic and certainly came from someplace real.
This is an important aspect of the record as well because it's also part of what gives it so much rich personality.
Again, you have that Americana soundscape that is sort of always there floating through the ethers of the songs and I love this because it adds an extra depth to it to go right along with these beautiful vocals that are strewn across this release.
The vocal approach here is quite beautiful and gives forth even more of that warmth and personality as you get gorgeous harmonies and this sort of heart and soul that give the songs color and a bit of vibrancy along with that floating and almost ethereal vibe.
I love being able to hear all these different influences come in and out as I listen to the record. You have more and more of that southern undertone that comes through the deeper into the album you go however, you also have a lot of that classic folk and singer-songwriter approach very evident throughout the release.
I think they did an amazing job of mending these elements together and creating this drifting and floating atmosphere for you to soak in.
There are so many beautiful layers of texture as well. The record is texturally lush and brings forth visuals in a way. The whole thing has an essence to it and they did an outstanding job of bringing that all to life.
The energy level is also quite gorgeous. They really have a knack for keeping such a well -balanced dynamic between the two of them.
I got attached to the emotional backbone that the record gives off. There's a lot of that on this record and that is because again, there is a lot of honesty and Truth here.
These songs were like chapters in their lives, and I think that the way they work together is incredible.
Oakland Rain is a duo made up of identical twin sisters and each of them brings their own flavor to the songwriting, the performances, and everything else but being able to connect on a certain level most of us can't, the music has a beautiful and natural forward moving flow to it.
The duo is embarking on a tour with the iconic Judy Collins, and this is their third tour with the legend.
As you can see, the duo has been paving their own path and after listening to this record I cannot wait to hear more of what they're going to bring to the table.
Take a listen to this album as soon as you can and just soak it all in the way it was meant to be.
