An album release from Most Epic Dream and Louisa delivers a refreshingly vast alternative pop and rock soundscape that incorporates all different kinds of other sub-genres in the mix from new wave to vintage pop and it all comes together to create this atmosphere that you fall right into and simply don't want to leave.
The Unity album features some amazing synth and key work along with guitars that add a little bit of edginess to certain tracks and vocals that not only add extra layers of texture but also bring beautiful melodies and hooks into the mix that you end up getting stuck in your head for hours or even days after the songs have ended.
The only way to satiate something like that is to go back and listen to the record again and in my opinion, that's smart songwriting but I feel like it comes to everyone involved with this project naturally.
A lot of the record falls into indie rock, post-rock, and even some electronica and synthwave involved but it all comes through with a unique approach while remaining somewhat familiar and giving you bouts of nostalgia at the same time.
I absolutely adore how he collected yet how confluent this record actually is and along with all of that it certainly serves up a hefty character that you end up getting attached to as well.
There are certain aspects about the record that make you feel almost like it's a concept album as certain songs feel like they interconnect with each other and that's only one of the reasons why you should be listening to this record from beginning to end.
The other is the simple fact that listening to one or two tracks from this release will not give you anywhere near the full spectrum of what the album actually has to offer.
There are some surprises around the corners, beautiful layers of since, pads, guitars, and vocals that all thrive, and each element of these songs seems to complement the other.
The beats and guitars feel like they're a bit of a driving force behind the record for certain songs while the synth work and vocals feel like they're the driving point in others, but they all go hand in hand throughout the record.
This was more of an escape than just an album and it does indeed have the ability to pull you away from your surroundings and put you in a completely different place altogether.
I do love the classic '80s pop vibe that some of these songs give off and of course, this is where those bouts of nostalgia come from.
This is fun because you can hear the different layers of influences that helped create this record.
The vocals are performed amazingly and seem to fall right into place with each track and the melodies that she comes up with are really catchy and tie everything together perfectly.
This was a great experience, and they certainly were able to capture a certain kind of aesthetic throughout this record while keeping things very interesting, and even though it came through with a lot of color, it also came through with vastness and edginess so that combination worked great for this release.
I would take a deep dive into this record when you get a chance and again, I strongly suggest you listen to all 10 songs which span about 40 minutes or so and do it with headphones on because then you can soak in everything that's happening during these tracks.
There are certainly a lot of notes that float through the ethers of some of the songs and give them more depth, you want to pay attention to some of the lyrics that are happening as well, and the whole thing has a great vivacious charisma to it that becomes infectious.
Check this out as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
