A new album from The Matt Seidel Band gives off a lush and full-bodied Americana and country undertone but also hits on classic rock, and folk rock as well all done with this robust character and almost live performance sort of energy that carries through the record and gives the songs an electricity that grabs at you.
The self-titled EP certainly gives off a lot of colorful Vibes and tones but does so with changes in how they come across.
For example, certain tracks feel more like classic rock tracks because of the way the guitars are played and because of the tone of the guitars themselves while others come off feeling more Southern or Americana again, because of the songwriting and the tones of things so, you have a bit of eclectic songwriting approaches but there is this heavy glue that keeps everything together and confluent throughout the EP.
No matter what you can clearly hear the heavy country influence in this record because that comes through with almost every song and I love how this record is able to encompass these different approaches and have everything feel like it makes perfect sense.
Again, this record does have a great sort of live performance energy to it as if everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire recording, and whether or not this was actually recorded live on the floor, it certainly makes you want to see this performed live in your face because if the energy is captured on record this well, then seeing it live must be amazing.
You even get a great sort of country undertone in the vocal approach a lot of the time as well and the whole release has a wonderful way of giving off an atmosphere that you can fall right into and enjoy.
Matt and the band hail from Rochester New York and have been consistently performing shows there along with other states and 's singer-songwriter soul is embedded in these songs loudly and clearly.
This record certainly has a lot to say and does an outstanding job of delivering something memorable and that feels welcoming in its own way.
The mix and production of this record is amazing and again, capturing this sort of live energy really helps the record push the envelope.
Some of this was due to its producer Ben Baker who actually performs drums on these songs so, he obviously played a huge part in how the record ended up feeling in the end.
It's been a while since I heard such an authentic record that brings together that folk, country, Americana, and classic rock and does so in a seamless manner so for me, this EP was completely refreshing but it also held little bits of nostalgia as if I've been listening to these songs for years now.
I really like feeling that kind of warmth from a record that's fresh and new.
This was a wonderful release performed and delivered with a heart that sticks strongly throughout the record and if you are a fan of genuine Americana, folk music, even indie rock or classic rock, you're definitely going to love this record.
Make sure that you listen to the full ep so that you can get the full track spectrum of what this EP has to offer.
