A new single release from Bird Cage Theatre comes with a robust and warm sort of honesty that gives it a lot of personality because it's so open and the whole thing has a cinematic approach built off of Americana, folk, and singer-songwriter but, it also has this vast feel to it so all in all, it ends up wrapping itself around you in a way.
"Broken" is indeed very personal and when you listen to it you get the sense that it was somewhat cathartic for the lyricist, singer, or songwriter to really put out there because it feels like there's a lot of emotion that needed to get off of his chest and this was the way he knew exactly how to do it.
This is part of what makes the song so authentic and beautiful. It certainly comes from someplace real and that is something that you connect with as a listener because there are points in the song where it feels like it was written just for you even though you know it wasn't.
It's so incredibly relatable that you can't let go and these are the elements of the song that you go on thinking about after it's been over.
This was a beautifully constructed and woven single that incorporates this gorgeous acoustic guitar flow with live percussion and the whole thing has a full band feel. Still, it's also somewhat subtle as it builds and comes through with waves of emotional drive.
I love the organs that fill that space in the background because that really thickens the song up and gives it more of that lush and robust feel plus, it adds to that emotion and cinematic approach that the song boasts as I mentioned earlier.
The arrangement is brilliantly done simply because it starts off building and building and then by the time you get halfway through the song it explodes into this intense feel and that level of energy stays throughout the rest of the song.
It's quite engulfing in the best ways.
You get these guitar notes that float around through the song's atmosphere and give it more depth and expansive tonality, and it all hits hard in a particular way.
If you're someone like me, then certain memories of your own or thoughts of your own will pop into your head as you listen to the track simply because that's how connective and relatable it actually is.
Again, this is because he's being so insanely honest with his emotions and his thoughts, his feelings, and how he expresses them.
It's one of those songs where you can relate to it but you yourself, would never have the ability to articulate it into words or music the way that it's done here so when you hear a song like this, it's so impactful because at times words are said and sung that you thought before, and it makes total sense.
I love a song that has this beautiful array of instrumentation, those hints of Americana and emotionally driven performances through the instruments and the vocals because it all comes together so seamlessly and so beautifully that it leaves a mark.
I think that's what songs like this are meant to do.
They're meant to make you think or feel and I definitely think that we need more music like this in the world just in general.
This was such a wonderful experience and it's best that you listen to it a few times so that you can really soak in everything that it has to deliver and offer.
This track releases October 4th into the world and all the links for you to be ready for it or below.
Trust me, save the date, and get some time to yourself to listen to the song because it's totally worth it.
