A New Single from Mel Broussard Delivers An Addictive and Contemporary Aesthetic

A new single release from Mel Broussard delivers a sort of warm set of tones that come together to create a semi-contemporary pop single that blends elements of folk, singer-songwriter, and even hints of jazz that shine through as the song unfolds, and it all also comes with a message that feels inspired by real life itself.

"Silence Is Golden" feels like it's a song about not just facing your fears, but being able to make a difference in the world. There are certain times in life when we wake up and wonder what's going on with ourselves. Other times, we wake up and wonder what's going on with the world in general.

There's a lot to take in these days. The world is in a very particular space, and it feels kind of divided, but there are ways that we can come together, and I feel like the song is about realizing that, along with being able to make changes in your own life so that you can grow.

Now, this is just how I interpreted the song. Others may take it a little differently, but for me, the sentiment was just that. Because of this, I connected with it a lot.

A song like this speaks to me because I believe in bettering yourself or trying to make changes in your life that you feel like will help you progress or change how you might see things.

Change is not easy. It's one of the hardest things for a lot of people, including myself, to do. However, listening to the song sort of reminds you that it's okay to want to make that change.

There are times in your life when you realize you don't have to keep going in the direction that you are. You can stop, take a look around, and if there's something that you don't like, you can take a different direction.

You are a person and are free to do that. These are the attributes and sentiments that really hit me about this track.

A lot of it comes from the way the artist was able to put everything together from a lyrical perspective. The lyrics are sort of detailed and almost storytelling as well.

Now, you can hear that Mel draws influence from vintage tonality. You hear a lot of '60s and '70s kind of aesthetics and tones coming through. The percussion has a lot of reverb on it, and that in itself makes it feel like records that were released in the late 60s.

The song also has a bit of lusciousness because there are several layers of keys that sort of thicken it up and give it progression, melody, and more.

Mel has an outstanding way of delivering the message, and doing so with certain kinds of hooks, even in the verses that you remember long after the song has ended.

There are guitars, keys, and a piano that all give different sorts of layers and textures to the song and add depth to it as well.

The vocals sit on top nicely but are not overpowering. There is an amazing dynamic balance to the tones throughout this track, and that is something that I found lets the song have a beautiful and forward-moving flow.

You do have some fun breakdown areas with additional percussion that come in, giving it a little flavor and flair, and during these parts, you're able to get little bursts of energy that the song delivers to you.

You can tell there was a lot that went into not just the lyrics, but also the arrangement of this track. Some detail that was paid attention to so that everything did indeed have a flow but it also has a heart.

There's something about the song that's kind of inviting.

Now, I definitely suggest checking out more from Mel's catalog because there are several singles released that really hit wonderfully.

One of them being a track called "Ms Karma", which definitely holds true to what I was saying earlier about having some classic rock and 60s and 70s influence coming into play.

Others like "She Knows" feel a lot more personal and come through as folk songs.

So, you can hear that there's a slew of influences under Mel's belt and that she holds a lot of those influences close to her heart because it all comes through in the music.

I would definitely suggest not just checking this track out but going through a lot of her other material because it's a lot of fun and if you do, you will hear different sides to the artist's personality and songwriting approaches.

So, take a deep dive into this now and you'll hear exactly what I'm talking about.
