An Honest And Edgy Single From Maya Wells

A new single release from Maya Wells manages to deliver this very personal sentiment that has a lot to do with pushing through certain kinds of life struggles, pain, and more. The song is based on having the strength to keep moving forward, and I found this to be incredibly connective right from the start.

One of the things that really hits hardest about this track is those lyrics. They're delivered with a great robustness in the vocals, and the entire song has a bit of a rock edge to it, which I absolutely loved, but the lyrics are the thing that really gives this thing shape and personality.

The song is called " noise in my own head", and it's the way this young artist articulates her lyrics that lets the song reach out and grab you in very particular ways.

The guitar performances across this track are great because they provide this edginess to the song. I think that's important because the song has to have that powerful backbone, simply because it's again, about pushing through things that life throws at you, and that takes a certain strength, so the music and instrumentation of this track have to have a powerful punch to it for it to all make sense.

That aesthetic comes through perfectly. It is an indie rock track with elements of pop-rock and even alternative involved, but it has this honesty to it that lets it come through with a sense of vulnerability, which is something that blends perfectly with the track itself.

The track has live percussion, which gives it plenty of drive, and there are always these layers of guitars going on that have the sensation of bouncing off of each other, but at other times, they sort of flow together and become one.

Maya herself has that sort of closed-fisted vocal performance that does pack the punch that it needs, but also has a sort of catchy hook at its chorus.

It makes me think of Alanis Morissette or anyone that's got that bit of edginess to them, female-fronted, and honest in their lyrics. All those things come together like puzzle pieces, and with this track, they work seamlessly.

These are all the reasons why the track actually works the way it does. It has a certain kind of impact to it, and it's because of all these different aspects coming together and mending.

Some vocal harmonies are going on, especially during those choruses. I definitely adored that, and the entire thing has an almost live performance aesthetic to it.

I really enjoyed this part of it because it also breathed extra life into the song itself. It's got a way of putting you right there in the moment with it, and having this kind of live performance energy is part of why that works.

There's a bridge section towards the end of the song that gives such a cool guitar section that's like a lead guitar section built off harmonies and bends. This also helps push that edginess as well because again, the song has to have that little bit of aggression in there for it to actually feel the way it's supposed to.

You also hear heavier guitars in there at times that give it a bit of a grungy feel too, and I think that the combination of the indie rock, pop-rock, and alternative and grunge, along with the character that comes through, makes the song memorable.

I can't lie, I do get a bit of a 90s rock vibe from this, but I dig it. I grew up in that time. And listen to a lot of stuff like this, and I think that Maya is right along those lines with this track.

It would be cool to know what kind of influences she actually holds close, but either way, I can tell you that this is someone who isn't afraid to give pieces of herself and her music, and this is very important because those are the things that give the song the character that it has.

She's clearly someone who writes songs with very few walls built around them, and that makes us connect, it lets the song feel authentic, and it makes us want more.

Definitely take a deep dive into this one because it's well worth it, and while you're at it, you should also check out "numb", released last year, because it follows suit with this one and gives a lot of Personality, honesty, and some rock backbone that isn't afraid to hit hard.

Check this out now, and you'll hear exactly what I'm talking about.
