A Gorgeous and Lush Album from Perkelt

A new album release from Perkelt brings out a lush and refreshing but rustic contemporary folk approach that comes with some incredible instrumentation that really takes you to a different place and sometimes even a different time all altogether, and because of this the album serves as such a great escape from your normal reality as it pulls you away from your surroundings and puts you into this whole other world.

The White Wolf album has a beautiful way of creating atmospheres and soundscapes that you end up falling right into and at times also get washed away with but, all of it has the incredible ability to wrap itself around you and keep you right where it wants to, and it feels good to get engulfed by this album.

Some of these songs come off as incredibly cinematic while others feel like traditional Celtic folk songs and those come off with such a beautiful intensity and are delivered with so much love for the craft that it all seems surreal at times.

One of the things that hits you with this record is the percussion and the actual instrumentation because you have fiddle, recorder, guitar, and more that all come together to create this unreal sort of energy that gives the songs the feeling of being alive and breathing.

These songs can swell and sway with intensity and the textures of all the instruments together have a wonderful way of complimenting each other so you have this robust and full-bodied sort of record with songs that tell stories and paint vivid pictures in your head.

This was an album that does indeed whisk you away and in the end, you have to reacclimate yourself back to reality again and this is something that you don't come across often so when you do it's insanely refreshing.

Everything on this record is so natural and acoustic that the folk element comes in strong because everything in terms of the songwriting and the performances stay true to the roots of the genre.

Again, you have this almost mid-century sort of undertone but riddled with character and a unique energy.

The UK-based band has been together since 2008 and has an incredible number of wondrous releases under their belt most in the form of full-length albums and if you like this one, then you're bound to love them all.

This is one of those albums that you should be listening to from beginning to end because if you only listen to a few tracks, you're not really getting the full range of what the album has to offer.

I suggest listening to this with headphones on so that you can let your imagination sort of come into play and when you do that it feels freeing and colorful.

This band not only pulls off a classic Celtic and contemporary folk sound amazingly well, but they do it in a way that makes you want to go see them perform it live in your face, simply because if this kind of energy is captured on record, then seeing it live must be amazing.

Perhaps this album was recorded live on the floor. I can't be too sure about that, but the energy feels like all the players are feeding off of each other the entire time and the best way to get that feeling is to record it live.

This was the kind of record that sticks with you for the rest of the day.

You can take a walk down the street and still hear some of the melodies, notes, and textures from this record playing through your head.

Take a listen to this record when you can and again, try and listen to the full album as a whole, and see how it affects you.
