A fresh single release from Rappin' Zack comes through as an honest and smooth soundscape with just the right amount of swagger in the vocal performance, some amazing lyrical phrasing, and this sort of old school vintage wrap approach musically that hits a certain sweet spot and gives me a little bit of a nostalgic feel.
"Aka the Golden Child" a positive and everything about it is lush and vibrant which gives Zack such an amazing presence as an artist on this track and I feel like this is the sort of song that speaks volumes for an artist like himself because he was able to feed off of this character that he delivers as well as getting a glimpse into some of the stuff that influenced him.
This is part of what makes it so much fun. You can hear those influences peeking through during the course of the song and he really delivers a colorful and expansive performance with an energy that almost has a live approach to it as if this was just all done in one straight take.
Now, that might have actually been the case. I'm not really too sure but either way listening to this song makes you want to go see him perform it live because of this kind of energy is captured on a record with such a great sort of classiness to it, then seeing it live must just be awesome.
The production on this track is outstanding and this is a big part of what gives it that old-school hip-hop tonality because the beats and the music are really taken from an almost early 90s type of vibe and this lets Zack feed off of that and so his persona really starts hitting those same vibes and it all comes together.
This single was endlessly fun, danceable, and it really showcases his charisma and honesty as an artist which is something I feel as super important when you're putting stuff out there because here's the thing, if you listen to this track first thing in the morning it's going to change your mindset.
The kind of track that makes you feel sort of lucky to be alive and it gives off this great positivity that is completely infectious and this is something that I sort of miss in hip hop music in general.
This track felt great to listen to and you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail that went into creating it, but it never loses that heart or that character that it starts with in the first place, and this may be the most important part of the entire thing.
Upon listening to this track I took it upon myself to take a little bit of a deep dive into some of the artists back catalog and I'm really glad that I did because he has some incredible releases dating back to 2019 with a full length album and then a series of singles which all show a little bit of a different side of his approaches a person, and as an artist as well.
It's a lot of fun, when I find an artist that I really enjoy, to listen to their evolution in music because it usually speaks a lot to how the evolves a person as well and Zack is a perfect example of exactly that.
This was a completely refreshing single classic old school hip hop is going to fall right into this one.
This gets a 9 out of 10 straight up.
