A beautiful song from Erin Hall delivers such a warm tone and sentiment that it ends up wrapping itself around you, and when it does, you're able to float alongside it and be a part of its journey because it's so welcoming and somehow familiar, like it's coming from a loved one.
"Lullaby of 55" is a song that definitely has a heartwarming approach and comes through like a gorgeous folk song that was passed down through generations. It just has that sense of a soul and longevity, as if it were a song mothers sing to their daughters and so on.
One of the things I really like about this track is the vocal approach because it's not just standard. It is warm and welcoming as the rest of the song is tonally, however, it has these other vocals that come floating in and out of the background, giving it a little bit more depth, and as the song unfolds and you dig deeper into it, it starts growing in that sense.
This has a soft Americana approach brought to the table by some added instrumentation like lap steel that performs these great notes, floating through the songs ether and building on its already beautiful atmosphere, making it even more graceful than it was before.
This entire track has a certain level of gracefulness to it in the performances, and it also feels so personal. It is a personal song, obviously; however, the way it's performed is very one-on-one, so it almost puts you there in the moment, like you're watching it performed live right in front of you.
The vocals become more and more lush with gorgeous harmonies, the instrumentation becomes a little bit bigger and more intense at times, but the song still holds on to that sentiment and beauty throughout its course.
This track feels cinematic because of that depth and expansive, spacious undertone that it delivers along with all the beautiful tones coming from the vocals and the guitars up on the forefront.
The entire thing has a sense of peace to it. Like everything is going to be okay, and I don't know if I've heard a song that gave that sentiment so well.
She's got a wonderful way with lyrics because that really helps paint the picture and helps push that notion of 'everything's going to be okay', giving you that sense of peace even further.
This was definitely something that I fell for quickly, and you can tell it's completely authentic.
When certain people listen to this song, they may take it differently, of course. This is my opinion and what it meant to me when I heard it, so all other interpretations are welcome, of course, but to me, the sentiment is right there and lets you get engulfed in everything it's meant for.
I feel like this was a love letter to somebody in a certain way. Not your standard kind of love song or love letter, but a different kind.
This was for someone special, and that impactful sensation comes through in the song, and by the time you get to the end of it, it all makes perfect sense.
Again, you may take it a little differently, but for me, it was beautiful all the way through and really felt amazing to listen to with headphones on.
Check this track out as soon as you can, and while you're at it, there is a record from 2019 she released called Great Blue, and a different but still letting her give pieces of herself in the music.
Check all the stuff out because it's so worth it.
