A Brutal and Thrashing Release from Valar Morghulis

A new single from Valar Morghulis absolutely crushes with a fierce and heavy approach that manages to take several elements of death metal, thrash metal, and even a melodic metal style and blend them to build a sort of edgy and dark atmosphere that's all their own.

One of my favorite things about "Ghost" is that it's got this really spacious and vast undertone to it even though the song itself on the upfront, thrashes out with a vengeance. I think those two elements in combination make for something that sounds more massive and can engulf you into their world for a little bit.

This track hits hard and does so in all the right ways and in all the right places because it's got this dark and grueling vocal that sits atop these threshing and fiery guitars, along with drumming that's just intense, to say the least.

The whole thing comes across like a sucker punch to the gut but there's more than that to it.

As I mentioned earlier, different elements of this song come together to make it whole.

The intro to the song has drawn-out chords and some guitar notes underneath that adding a vast undertone and then it hits a harder and more aggressive death metal style approach with double kicks that are just unstoppable.

This had hints of doom rock and metal along with all those other subgenres and I think that hearing all these different influences rolled up into one fat track, hits a certain way.

It boasts a gothic edginess and that's part of the theme of the track which helps everything build into this atmosphere that wraps itself around you and keeps you right where it wants to.

If you're a fan of any kind of metal really, you're going to immediately be into this track because it does have that super tight approach and the drumming is ridiculous throughout the whole thing.

It does come with some great breakdowns that are completely mosh-worthy and the guitar work throughout the entire track is a thrash metal dream come true.

Upon listening to this track, I took a little bit of a deep dive into some of the releases in their back catalog and I was super glad that I did because I came across some other singles that were ridiculous including a track called "Bastards & Broken Things" that hits a little bit differently than this song does but still keeps to that brutal and brilliantly thrashing approach.

I also hear some elements of hardcore, grindcore, and more as I listen through their songs. I find it extremely fun to listen to this band's sort of evolution and you will probably find it fun as well.

Definitely some black and death metal influences in their sound and they do a great job of just bringing all these things into one soundscape and marking it their own. This was a fiery release from a band I'll be paying a lot more attention to from here on out.

Check this check out and certainly don't be afraid to turn it nice and Loud.
