Southern California metal/hip-hop/hardcore group Throwlight has released a music video for their debut single, “Back Down.” The video premiered last week via New Noise Magazine, and is live now on Youtube. The video was directed/edited by Sam Shapson, produced/art-directed by Joshua Barish. The single, which will be included on their upcoming album, was produced by Paul Miner (Death By Stereo, Fear, New Found Glory, Adolescents, etc).

"Back Down” is a commentary on the overwhelming influence of media and technology in our lives. Inspired by early 2000s alt/metal and hardcore, Rocom’s lyrics capture the frustration of living under the constant control of screens and the media. The track explores the struggle to find truth amidst the misinformation and political agendas that dominate social media and advertisements. “Back Down” channels the frustration of being perpetually glued to screens that dictate how we should live.

Based out of South Orange County, the members of Throwlight have known each other since childhood, forging deep bonds long before the band was formed. Throwlight blends punk, metal, rap, and hardcore into a distinct sound driven by heavy grooves, catchy leads, and rap verses that keep listeners moving. The band is led by underground rapper Rocom, and is rounded out by longtime friends and collaborators Kevin Betz, Chris Ellis and King of Somewhere. Their wide array of influences come together on “Back Down,” thoughtfully blending Hip-Hop with a Heavy Metal soundscape.

“Back Down is about our relationship to media and technology. It's a constant fight to find truth when ads and social media are clouded in misinformation and political agendas. After hearing the riffs written by our guitarist Chris, I wanted to start a band influenced by my favorite sounds from hardcore tracks from the early 2000s. “Back Down” reflects the frustrations of being glued to our screens that constantly tell us how to live.” - Rocom
