The Telling Songs Of Nicholas Ellerby

A single release from Nicholas Ellerby delivers a warm and lush soundscape with a contemporary rock backbone and it all comes together with this persona and character that draws you in and has the ability to wrap itself around you.

"Sinatra" definitely comes from someplace genuine, and this gives the song a certain level of authenticity but it's all about the vocal delivery on this track because it's done with a warmth and heart behind it but there's also this certain class in the performance that really gives everything such a clean polish.

The track is very bountiful in terms of storytelling and the detail that he goes into throughout the course so you can pick up on what's going on, but it also musically has a sense of growing intensity which lets the whole thing feel alive and breathing.

You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this track and it does have such a great pop overtone to it but it never loses that heart or that character the entire time which may be the most important part of it all.

This is one of those tracks that pulls you into an artist and upon listening to it I didn't need find myself taking a little bit of a dive into his back catalog which was a smart move because upon doing so I found two other singles previously released and each one showing a little bit of a different side to Nicholas as a person and as an artist.

The thing that sticks and stays confluent throughout everything he releases is the sense of honesty that he gives off which makes you feel a lot closer to him as a person after you finish listening to his songs.

If you like "Sinatra" then you'll definitely like some of his other releases because he has a sort of staple sound to him so when you hear his songs, you know who it is, and I love that in terms of being an artist and creating your own path for yourself musically.

A lot of artists don't do that because they sort of just follow the trend and so they sound very cookie cutter at times, but Nicholas has a way of making things his own and doing things with fewer boundaries than some of his predecessors.

Being able to create a song that carries a forward moving flow but also pulls you in lyrically is really important because you want to pay attention to those stories, and you want to be able to feel attached.

The songs are relatable and understandable they come from the heart and their delivered with a wonderful aesthetic that at times can even feel cinematic like you can see these songs in the scene of a film or a TV show.

I think this comes from the emotional backbone that a lot of his music is born from.

That's the thing that sticks throughout it all and it's part of what makes you want more from him.

Nicholas Ellerby is the type of artist that you should be keeping an eye out for because I feel like there's going to be more releases in the upcoming months and if there are, I want to be able to grab a hold of them and if you are someone that likes music with meaning and a message, stories and life, then this is perfect for you.

I would easily give this an 8 out of 10 and suggest that you pop some headphones on and listen to all three of his recent releases.
