The Guitar Driven EP from Sun Raven

Updated: Sep 5

If you're not too familiar with the sounds of Sun Raven, then let us be among the first to introduce you as the artist has recently released a record of guitar-based pieces that are all beautifully performed and keep to a cinematic and a bit experimental approach.

The new Explorations record is brimming with intricate and flowing guitar work that comes in different segments and no one song defines the EP.

From solo guitar pieces that can feel emotional to colorful kaleidoscopes of harmonies, there are plenty of different temperaments to take in throughout the release.

Above we have the main single, "Red Velvet Planet" which is the first song that you hear on the record itself. This single showcases some astounding and experimental sounds with a pop feel and a beautiful style.

Upon listening to this release, we backtracked a little and found some heavier sounds coming from other releases before this one. This seems to be one of the first releases that dives into a more spacious sound in general, and it works.

"I've always been interested in solo instrument albums and what can be done with just the one instrument. My previous Sun Raven albums have been guitars, bass, drums and keyboard and lean more towards rock/metal. For this EP I wanted to do something more ambient and experimental, kind of like a modern classical acoustic guitar album but on electric guitar with effects," - Sun Raven
