Plaid Lion

Plaid Lion will release its newest single, “Selkie Blues,” on Spotify and other streaming services on July 1, 2025. "Selkie Blues" is a shapeshifting, genre-bending track that swims out on to the horizons of indie rock where it meets up with jazz in a secret cave only accessible at low tide. The Selkie is a legend for our time. She’s the woman you only think you know. Soft as a seal, but underneath there’s an edge. “Selkie Blues” features soulful lyrics that swim and groove over a deliberate breakbeat, rounded out with warm bass lines and vintage synth organ, accented by clean jazz guitar fills. The track might remind some of classic Eurythmics, but it comfortably hangs with contemporary psychedelia. The track was mixed by Plaid Lion and mastered at Studio Resonans. Plaid Lion is an indie jazz-pop duo that explores the liminal spaces between rock, soul, and jazz with smart, evocative lyrical themes, but returning to memorable pop-friendly melodies.
