A brand-new single from Luke Stevens delves deep into a bit of existentialism and bears a lot of inner thought that come spilling out for all to hear in such a lush and beautiful approach that it hits hard in a way.

"Breathe" is a track that covers a lot of ground in terms of processing thoughts that feel deepening. Thoughts that affect your life or others.

Listening to this track is like listening to an inner monologue from the artist. All of those thoughts come spinning in and out of his head, and the beautiful part about it is that some of these thoughts are ones we've all had at different times.

It's not every day you come across a song that shows this much character, and a lot of this is stuff you can relate to, but it goes by so quickly.

His approach to lyrical phrasing is amazing. It is part of how this all works so well and comes through with so much intensity; in a way, it is because it's subtle.

He's not yelling into a microphone. He's wrapping and telling you about these thoughts. He's giving you things to think about, and he's so descriptive at times that you can paint pictures in your head as the song unfolds, but again, it all goes so quickly lyrically because he's fast.

Still, you paint pictures as the song plays, and there are certain lines you end up holding on to throughout the rest of the song.

One of the other things I love about this is how there's no actual beat. It's a rap song, but it's just a live piano and vocals.

It's got this amazingly and wonderfully stripped-down approach that pushes the intensity levels even further because of that subtlety I mentioned earlier.

Having a track that covers so much ground, struggles, triumphs, thoughts, emotional backbone, and just existence in general, is already something you need to soak in in more than one or two listens.

The fact that this is done with a piano piece that helps intensify that emotional backbone is outstanding and a brilliant move from Luke.

His lyrical flows change up here and there, especially when he goes into the choruses, but there's an enormous number of concepts and thoughts to soak in.

I absolutely adore songs like this because they make you think and feel. We need a lot more music in the world that lets you think and feel, no matter what the genre.

Genres don't matter. It's just about music that affects you in some way, shape, or form.

This song will affect you simply because of its open-ended honesty and its unique build and form.

This track gives you tons to grab onto and does it in a way that is built with fewer boundaries than you may be used to.

This is all part of why the song works so well. It's got its own aesthetic and its own atmosphere. You're in his head for 3 minutes.

You understand and relate to plenty of what he's talking about, but again, certain lines in this song wrap themselves around you, and you end up clinging to them.

Luke is an artist who is certainly not afraid to release songs with no walls built around them, and this showcase is how his artistry can change someone.

This is exactly what real art is all about if you ask me.

Being able to express as much as humanly possible just to let it out. It doesn't matter what other people may think of it because you're doing it for yourself.

There is even a line in the song that talks about putting down as much as he can with pen and paper before he goes.

He understands that this is like his legacy. If anyone's going to understand him they're going to do it by listening to his music or reading his words.

Again, you don't come across this kind of stuff often. It's very conscious, and it's very layered.

This was an amazing song that pretty much blew my mind. I think it'll have the same effect on you, especially if you listen to it with headphones on so you can take it all in properly.

I listened to it more than a few times to grasp everything, but that's just me.
