A new single release from Laptop delivers quite a fun experience with a pop-coated single, coming through colorfully with brightness and sort of warm catchiness, along with a particular sort of quirkiness as well.

"I Don't Know" comes through as a piano pop track, and along with the energy level being vibrant and the welcoming sonic presence being evident, the track boasts a lot of character.

You have a thriving bass guitar line, piano is the main instrument, and a '90s beat, along with vocals that feel almost semi-animated or theatrical in a sense.

The whole thing is quite fun and definitely portrays the band that doesn't take themselves too seriously but still gets a story across.

Part of why this song works so well is because of their pop sensibility. This track has a hooky chorus that sort of sticks with you, has male vocals as the main tracks, and then female vocals are the backing ones. During those choruses, the female vocals do a call back line, and it just adds a great little depth to the track.

The track focuses on a kid who is just thinking about random things because that's what kids do. He's in class and the teacher is asking him questions, but he's distracted. He doesn't know the answers because his mind is going elsewhere.

They take all of this in terms of the story and turn it into something fun, danceable, and catchy.

Along with the single comes a music video that really showcases even more of the band's character and presence.

The video features the band sitting in a classroom with elementary school desks, instruments sitting on top of them, and it's all quite fun.

There are also animated sections that come in and out and sort of push the aspect of it being more of a lyric video as well.

For me, the video spoke volumes for the track and the band simply because it showcases a lot of the colorful approach and lines up visually with the pop overtones of the song very well.

Again, this came through very danceable but had a little bit of an experimental or outside-the-box sort of approach, while still keeping things under that pop umbrella and feeling good.

It's got a great little innocence to it, and I think that came through. This was a single that had a particular way of showcasing how this band is able to create songs that stand out by not binding it to a specific genre in particular.

They also release songs that are a little avant-garde and because of their experimental approach, the pop aspects really shine.

A lot of the vocal hooks stick with you for hours after the song is ended and the entire thing really feels good.

I would definitely suggest watching the video to listen to the song for the first time because it's a great time from start to finish.

We can tell these guys put a lot of effort into the songwriting, composition, and the music video aspects as well. Putting a lot of effort into the visuals so that everything lines up with this song perfectly is no easy feat, but they seem to have done it with this great and forward-moving flow.

So, definitely check this out as soon as you can and get ready to dance.
