Girl Fiend Releases A Catchy Rock Single

Updated: Aug 26

A new single release from Girl Fiend delivers a cross between classic pop punk and a little bit of garage rock, and those two things come together naturally for this band as their influences feed into the track with ease and along with all of that you, get this sort of unbridled character that you end up latching on to right from the start.

"Clean" is a song that blends honesty with a lot of color and plenty of edginess as the band tends to go from these melodic and sort of anthemic choruses. into thrashier sections that almost feel like surf rock, which is something that becomes very addictive when you're listening to the track.

The vocals are robust, and they can be more subtle when they want to, but when they are belting it feels very lush and full bodied as the track sort of waivers in intensity, swelling big and then coming back down at times.

I definitely love that classic pop punk undertone because it's always there but there are those sections that just rock out and those surprise you which I think is brilliant. They're able to combine a bunch of different rock genres in one song and make it just feel natural and forward moving.

The whole track is completely vivacious and has a very particular kind of energy to the point where you feel almost like the song may have been recorded live on the floor, to an extent.

I might be wrong about that of course, I wasn't there, but I can tell you that it feels like everyone in the band is just feeding off of each other's energies the entire time and this gives the song that live feel.

The energy is completely electric and has a lot to do with the aesthetic of the song and how it comes through. Bringing us back to the punk genre, they know exactly how to capture that aesthetic and harness that energy while blending in these other tonalities at the same time.

The song has a sort of youthful and vibrant appeal to it and to an extent their songs speak to a generation which is wonderful simply because that's what music is supposed to do.

You're supposed to be able to identify with songs and connect with them in some way shape or form.

Girl Fiend pull this off without a hitch and does so with charm to boot.

This song definitely has a few surprises around the corners, and it's arranged incredibly well. It's a quick 3 minutes and 30 seconds but you can hear the sort of passion in the performance. Short but sweet indeed.

The song has heart, fire, charisma, color, and again, that youthful cry out that speaks to a generation of people. It's quite a beautiful thing because you can hear the band's love for their craft in the song itself.

When I say that I don't just mean playing bass or drums, guitar or singing. I mean writing songs together to create something that connects with people and that has a bit of backbone and honesty.

This band delivers songs with personality. This is something I've missed for quite some time and all kinds of different music and so it's very refreshing to hear it right now.

It's not just a combination of genres, it's music that's released and written with fewer boundaries than you may be used to, and I think that's what the future of music is supposed to be all about.

No more conforming to whatever the trend is. It's about doing what you want and creating songs as a true form of art.

Now, after listening to this track I listen to more stuff from their catalog and there is a song called "Gold Star for Chaser Boy" that shows a little bit of a different side to the band's songwriting approach.

You can still hear the staple feels and sounds that they deliver which is wonderful, but the guitar work is outstanding on these songs.

I think the guitar work is one of the biggest elements that separate them from the pack.

It's a little bit experimental and a little bit outside the box and I feel like this perfect for a band like this.

At any rate, listen to this track and don't be afraid to turn it up when you do.
