Danjul Returns With an Addictive New Single

ree

A new single release from Danjul just dropped, and this track displays a very smooth, pop-coated, R&B approach that blends classic and new school together to create an awesome atmosphere and an addictive club groove through and through.

"Dirty Playground" starts with beatboxing. The beatboxing sticks throughout the entire track and is the actual beat throughout. There are additional percussive elements that come into play as the song expands and unfolds, but I love how the beatboxing is the backbone to this track in general.

This was a genius move because it catches your attention in a particular way.

Additional beats, claps, and more bring the song to a more robust feel, but right off the bat, singing comes in, and you get the smooth allure of how vocals are performed.

I love the entire vocal approach simply because it's got so much life to it. It's a blend of edginess, color, sexiness and brings together some of the best elements of pop and R&B in one shot.

The vocals have soul in their delivery as well. This is important. The lyrical phrasing and speed of the lyrics in general are pretty fast at times, and there's this deep sort of decimated synthesizer that adds a robust edginess to the track as well.

The whole thing has a whipping feel. It's quick but expansive. It's edgy, but it's vast and it's underbelly.

Sometimes it makes me think of a cross between classic Prince and Michael Jackson at the same time. I know, that's saying a lot, but the way this whole thing,

Of course, it has a very current feel and at times is almost futuristic in a sense. There's so much going on, some ambient sort of synth pads that float through the background of the track and help give it more depth and cinematic backbone, and the whole thing just feels like a natural forward-moving flow, but again, with this edginess to it that gives it so much additional appeal.

I love the many layers of texture that this track holds. There are so many great soundscapes going on that build a particular kind of atmosphere, and again, this feels very cinematic to me and has this great sort of sharp kick to it all.

It's got flavor and style, freshness, and comes through super cool.

The way the lyrics are approached is quite addictive. Lyrics can be broken up into segments, leaving room for some space, bouncing between beats, and the song has this, alive and breathing sort of approach.

The track is about 3 minutes long, and when it's over, you want to restart it immediately just because you know you missed some stuff. The second and third times you listen to this track, you pick up on plenty that you indeed missed the first time around.

This is because so much is happening that it's a lot to pay attention to. I mean that in a good way, of course.

Again, I love the beatboxing and how the percussion grows throughout the track, building intensity. I also dig the synth and pad work across the board, and the vocals bring such color and vibrancy to everything, but still keep to that smooth and sexy approach.

This is a track that boasts its own aesthetic altogether, and I definitely feel right into this one.

The performance of everything has a bit of fire behind it. It's a fiery single, and it's meant to grab your attention, which is exactly what it does.

The production is borderline genius and keeps you on your toes the entire time, and has a certain pop; it's sort of flashy in a sense.

It also has a particular kind of Elegance to it as well. This combination of excitement, edginess, pop coating, the R&B vocals, flashy production, and beatboxing all let the song really stand out.

It's not a truck you'll hear once and forget. You'll remember it for sure.

With the release of such an impressionable and well-woven single, we took the time to speak with Danjul so we could talk about where it came from and what might be happening next for the artist.

Take a read through of the review below why you listen to the track.

RAG: Let’s talk about Dirty Playground! This song had a smooth pop overtone and R&B flow! Where did this one come from?

Dirty Playground came from a mix of nostalgia and raw energy. I wanted to create something cinematic but still club-ready, almost like a soundtrack you could dance to. The concept is about letting go, embracing your wild side, and stepping into a world where innocence meets chaos. It’s playful but powerful at the same time.

RAG: I’m hearing a few different styles to this track! Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

I grew up studying Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Timbaland, that whole era shaped me as an artist. I also admire The Weeknd for how he pushes boundaries with mood and atmosphere. So Dirty Playground is really a fusion of those inspirations with my own storytelling style.

RAG: I love the beatboxing as the beat! Did you start with that aspect, or did you add that in later?

Funny enough, the beatboxing was the very first element. I wanted something raw, something human that sets the tone before the production even kicks in. From there, we layered the cinematic elements and hard-hitting production around it. It’s like the heartbeat of the song.

RAG: How did this all start for you as an artist?

Music has always been my escape. I grew up writing and dreaming big, but it wasn’t until I really embraced my own artistry that things started moving. I didn’t have all the tools at first sometimes just my phone and a vision, but I kept pushing and eventually landed a distribution deal with Sony Orchard. That’s when things started feeling real.

RAG: Are you performing live right now? Any touring in support of the release?

Right now, I’m focused on press, radio, and getting Dirty Playground out to as many listeners as possible. But live shows are definitely in the works. Performing is where I feel the music truly comes alive, so I’m excited to bring this energy to the stage soon.

RAG: Now that this is out, what’s next for you?

More music, for sure. Dirty Playground is just the beginning, I’ve got some tracks lined up that dive even deeper into my sound. The goal is to build a full body of work that tells my story piece by piece.

RAG: Who’s in your headphones right now?

Honestly, I listen to so many different artists depending on my mood. Brandy is my favorite female artist of all time, so she’s always in rotation. Lately, it’s been The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Timbaland, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, KATSEYE, Adele, Tate McRae, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and of course Michael Jackson. I love blending the old with the new, it keeps me inspired and always pushes me to be versatile with my own sound.

RAG: What would you tell people they can expect on this release?

Expect a rush of energy, nostalgia, and originality. It’s a song that feels familiar but also brand new. If you love pop with an edge and R&B grooves, you’ll feel right at home in Dirty Playground.

RAG: Before we go, what would you like to express to fans of the music?

Just a huge thank you. Every stream, every message, every bit of support means the world. I put my whole heart into this, and to see people connecting with it is a dream. To my fans, this is only the beginning. Love you guys!
