A fresh single release from Arirose brings out a dreamy undertone but with a colorful edge and the soundscape of it all creates a wonderful sort of atmosphere that engulfs you in the best ways possible of course, but it all has this sort of lush character that you end up getting attached to and I think that may be the most important part of the whole thing.
"Catch a Feeling" is built really well because it's got these layers of textures that go along with it. On the upfront you have a little bit of an edgier or harder hitting sort of beat that breeds a little bit of a 90s pop sound and in the back of the track you have this floating sort of synth pad that adds a vastness in the undertone of the song and gives it an expansive feel.
This song crosses old school with new school and does it with such a seamless approach that only the second or third time around you start feeling the little hints of nostalgia here and there.
The combination of that color and edginess coming together with that dreamy underbelly really works wonders and creates an almost cinematic feel but the vocals do an amazing job as well in terms of pulling you in and letting the song wrap itself around you.
There's something about this track that feels a little bit like an escape because it can actually pull you away from your surroundings for a little chunk of time but that's something that I adore because you don't get it often.
Her vocal approach really feeds into that sort of smooth but a little bit vivacious energy that the track delivers and when I say that I mean the whole track has that embedded in its sound and this is important because that blend of classic almost vintage pop with a more refreshing R&B and a little bit of alternative pop as well, all come together and make something that you want more of.
I feel like this is a really smart track because it's built with a little bit less boundaries than the norm and I think that's where pop music is going in general.
I also love how she uses her vocals as an instrument half the time and certain points of the song these melodies just layer on top of everything else that's happening and those become little hooks here and there and those hooks are incredibly memorable to the point where you find yourself almost humming them in your head hours are even days after the song has ended and that to me is smart songwriting.
Now, having said all that, Ari created the song as a collaboration with producer and songwriter Sunhands, and I think this was an outstanding collaboration because the two of them seem to create a flow with this song that works perfectly.
I can't get enough of that sort of '90s alternative pop vibe and this song just lets me feed right into that because the aesthetic for it is incredibly well done and completely nailed.
Are we really pulled off amazing vocals for this track and she does it without losing that little bit of alternative edge either, which is incredibly important because I think when SunHands put the song together in terms of its production there was probably this kind of vocal in mind because it had that little bit of edginess.
I'm sure all involved were very happy with the end product and I think this is something that people who grew up listening to everything from alternative pop to, classic pop, R&B, even alternative rock would likely really enjoy this track. I think there's something here for almost everyone and I got very attached to a very quickly.
