A Wonderfully Eclectic Pop Ep from Sylvia G

An EP release from Sylvia G comes through with great honesty and this bright and lush pop approach that blends a contemporary with a dance, R&B, dream pop, and more undertone and the songs on the record are eclectic and beautifully performed with what feels like heart and a lot of character.

The Powder Blue EP comes with some outstanding detail lyrically that lets you paint the pictures in your head at times and at other times, memories of your own are starting to show a face and I think that's just because the songs are very relatable, and they also have this great cinematic backbone to them.

The production and style give the approach of something that you would hear between the late 90s and mid-2000s and I like this because not only is it a little bit nostalgic, but it also brings in a current feel as well, so it all creates these textures and tones that blend and build an atmosphere that is her world.

This EP is five songs long and each one of them would do well as a single on its own but listening to the EP from start to finish is the best way to soak it in so that you can get all the different layers and vibes that this has to offer.

By the time you get halfway through this EP you realize that you should start to expect the unexpected aside from the fact that it's going to be a great song because her pop range is so vast that she covers a lot of ground within just that five-song spectrum alone.

What I really love is this sort of energy that it gives off and how some of the songs almost have an interconnection with each other almost like a concept record of sorts.

You can tell a lot of attention to detail went into the creation of these songs, but it never loses that character or that persona the entire time which is the main thing that you end up kind of holding on to throughout its course.

You feel like you're getting chapters in the artist's life and each song is a new one so if you listen to the whole EP, you get the full book and that's something that tells a bit of a story.

These are songs that come through with a different sort of lusciousness and full-bodied approach each time and by the time you get to the end of the record you want to start it all over again because a lot of these have elements and hooks to them that end up sticking with you for a very long time after the song ends.

Sylvia G is someone who writes from experience and uses some of the feelings and emotions that those experiences create to let her talk about some of those things or get them off her chest.

The songs have stories to tell and if you listen you feel like some of them may even be cathartic for the artist to have written and released.

She has a knack for building a beautiful pop atmosphere that shows a different side of her each time and that's why the record boasts so much personality and why you end up sticking with it so much.

This was a beautifully woven record that took time, thought, heart, and honesty to put together and it's done very well.

I'm giving this a 9 out of 10 because everything from the compositions to the way the performance has come through is really well done and genuine.
