A Massive Alt-Rock Banger of an Album from Hungry Light

A full-length album release from Hungry Light delivers a cross of classic and new-school alternative rock soundscapes that deliver such massive and anthemic choruses and sweet but edgy guitar tones that you end up getting addicted to the whole feel of it.

The self-titled album release is absolutely riddled with not only amazing guitar sections, experimental performances, and hard-hitting, bombastic tracks, but it's also riddled with character, which really helps drive the whole release even further.

So many of these riffs are incredibly memorable to the point where they're just as catchy as some of the chorus is on the record and for me, a lot of the guitar riffs are what end up bouncing around in my head for hours or even days after the songs have ended, and the only real way to satiate that is to go and listen to the song again.

This record was mass amounts of fun, it portrayed such a sort of vigorous and vibrant energy that only lent even more to the thriving soundscape of everything to the point where it felt like some of these songs were even recorded live on the floor and everyone involved was just feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.

This record hit such a perfect aesthetic in terms of that late 90s and early 2000s underground but also mainstream, heavy-handed alternative rock feel to the point where it was even a bit nostalgic for me listening to certain tracks.

The lead guitar work across this record is also outstanding and delivers an added layer of color and texture to a lot of these songs along with these super robust vocals, bending their notes with a swagger and style, and just really coming through packing a punch.

You can tell there was certainly a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this record, but it still has all this massive heart behind it and I think that that's something that is so important with music like this.

Listening to this record makes you want to go see them live because if this kind of energy and hard is captured on record this well then going to see them live must be amazing.

There are more than a few surprises around the corners along with certain tracks that deliver and even heavier sound and vocals that end up being experimental as well so this is a heavy alternative rock record, but it also incorporates other genres in the mix and other influences as well that shine through at different times in different songs.

This is the type of album you listen to the entire way through because if you only listen to one or two tracks then you're not really getting the full spectrum of what the album actually has to offer.

There's not one track on this record that didn't fit or that lost my interest.

This was a banger of a record that hit like a sucker punch to the gut, and I mean that in the best way humanly possible.

If you grew up in a certain time and listened to alternative rock of the 90s and early 2000s, then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about when you listen to this record.

Back in those days, you'd find bands by listening to them on certain underground radio stations, or finding them in magazines, or finding them from friends, and then you would go and either buy the records or download songs off of LimeWire or Napster.

That is the kind of aesthetic I'm talking about when I listen to Hungry Light.

They capture that moment and that era in rock music so incredibly well that you can tell their influences are just thriving through.

If you didn't grow up during that time. I have no idea what I'm talking about you'll still certainly dig the hell out of this record especially if you're into hard-hitting alt-rock because these guys come through with loads of memorable refs and choruses that have a heavy impact.

Check this record out as soon as you can and again, I would suggest listening to the entire thing so maybe set aside a good half an hour or so to do that because that's about how long it is, and don't be afraid to turn it nice and loud.
