A Huge and relentless Album from Unfailing

A recent album released from Unfailing delivers a blend of heavy tonalities that blend metal, alternative rock, and a bit of a thrashing approach but the record also brings with it melody, so you get a lot of classic elements running through the veins of this record and throughout the unfolding of the album you hear different influences coming into play.

The SUM IT album is bursting with these hard-hitting refs that at times can sound like drop D or even B, but the way that the whole thing is approached blends in this sort of underground '90s hardcore element as well and the vocals have such an animated feel to them that it adds to the drive of the entire record perfectly.

What are the things that hit me about this record as I was going through it is the fact that it blends in this kind of riot rock attitude and undertone with it and I like that because I haven't heard it for quite some time.

These guys pull that aesthetic off so well but again, they're able to blend these genres to create one kind of atmosphere that you certainly don't want to leave.

These tracks are headbangers, some of them are super mosh-worthy, While others are fist-in-the-air sing-alongs.

I even hear elements of a sort of thrash punk in there during certain tracks and it has a lot to do with the riffs and the guitar tone in general but one of the most impressive things about this record and one of the most driving as well, is the drumming.

The drumming across this release is intense and has an amazing way of not only complimenting everything else that's going on but actually pushing it through that threshold so that they hit this place that packs a massive punch.

The whole release has the air of a live performance. I feel like some of these were even recorded live on the floor to an extent and all the players involved were feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about the whole live on the floor thing but, listening to this record certainly makes you want to go see them live because if they can capture this kind of relentless energy on record, then seeing them live must be a real face melter.

You can tell that they're having an absolute blast making this record and performing it because all the performances are just alive and in the moment.

These guys have a real love for their craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments or singing. I mean writing songs together so they can put them out into the world and people can jump around their living rooms to them.

I love that blend of old and new-school heavy rock styles because, at times, it's a little bit nostalgic for me.

As I mentioned earlier, during different tracks you can hear certain kinds of influences shining through and some of those are most certainly a classic thrash sound, giving these guys a well-rounded but fierce approach.

This record hits like a sucker punch to the gut and I loved every damn second of it.

The vocalist is so good for this band. Sometimes you hear an amazing man like this with incredible riffs and guitar work, the bass guitar pounds, and the intense drumming, but the vocalist lacks. This is certainly not the case with Unfailing.

The vocalist takes things to a new level and keeps that same energy the band has, which must be energy throughout and never really lets up.

This record was the most fun I've had in quite some time and it definitely put these guys on my radar so, if you are a fan of thrash rock, punk, hardcore, metal, or any kind of heavy music that brings with it a unique edginess and a blistering approach, then you're going to absolutely love this record.

Take a deep dive into SUM IT and get ready for the infectiousness that it brings on.
