A vibrant and colorful new album release from LAU delivers a soiree of classic and new school pop soundscapes that come together to create an atmosphere that you really just don't want to leave.
The Circumstance (Take Two) LP is not only packed with heart but also with infectious energy and an aesthetic that takes that vintage pop feel and gives it a fresh spin but still manages to come through giving the listener bouts of nostalgia more often than not.
The level of authenticity that's delivered on this record is outstanding and a lot of these songs aren't only a wonderful crossover of all the new, but they're also very honest and so you end up paying attention to a lot of the lyrical content along with wanting to dance around your living room.
This is something that is few and far between because it's an album that you want to listen to all the way through which in this society is a rarity because it's so single-based these days.
However, this is a record that you can jam to and pick up on these different layers that are coming in and out from beginning to end.
Now don't get me wrong, there are more than a handful of singles that stand on their own two feet very well, but I think that this record is meant to be soaked in as the full album.
This is something that I definitely miss in terms of music because they come from a certain time. So, to speak and my time. Was one of cassette tapes, CDs, and vinyl records that gave you, for the most part, full-length albums like this one.
Albums that have stories to tell, emotions to portray, and a certain level of relatability that lets you get attached.
This release hits all of those sweet spots and more and is done with such a bright presence that just gives off mass amounts of persona which is why you feel like you know this artist more than you did before you listened.
Another thing that I really liked about this record was that it's obviously done with an actual and genuine love for the craft of songwriting and performing because everything's done with that heart that never leaves and just flows through the veins of this release.
You definitely get some really solid hooks and choruses that end up bouncing around in your brain for hours or even days after the songs have ended along with the urge to sing along in the car.
Don't you miss that?
I did up until now and I think it's really enlightening to have a record that runs deep in such a fun and addictive way.
Now, LAU brought in a slew of artists for collaborations on these songs which was also a really smart idea because it worked like a charm.
So not only is this coming from someone who has a love for the craft but is doing so in an open-minded manner and wanting to put something out that's the best it could be with as few boundaries as there could be.
This is a perfect example of exactly all of that and it came through shining.
But don't just take my word for it, have a listen to the record yourself and you can see exactly what I mean.
You won't regret it.
