A new single release from Rabies delivers a classic pop-punk soundscape with Incredible melodies and progressions that really drive the song and give them this naturally forward-moving flow but, it all also comes with tons of character, and I think that's what grabs at you right from the get-go.
"Quitters" is a song that focuses a little more on doing things your way to reach your goal. It's about taking your time and doing things in a way that remains true to yourself but still going for the win in the end.
Not only is this a message a lot of us can actually agree with but it's delivered with such a robust and fun punk vibe and it has a lot to do with not only the way that the progression and arrangements go musically but also the way that the vocals are put forth are astounding as well just because it's got so many layers that grow in harmony and give the song and added sort of texture in a way and this is what makes everything sound so full-bodied.
This track hits a sort of classic skate-punk vibe and you can feel that influence in this song through and through because that aesthetic is completely nailed, and the beauty of that is the fact that it's so damn catchy to everybody that listens to it no matter what you're into, this is something that will grab you and catch your ear.
It's addicting and the energy that's given is almost like that of a live performance where everyone is just feeding off of each other the entire time, and this I think, is what gives the song this almost alive and breathing sort of feel.
I let this one engulf me and this is a super quick banger of a single that gives you a great idea and feel for the band themselves, and I think that it speaks volumes for Rabies as it shows that they can certainly deliver something that short and sweet, memorable and that shows character, vivacious tonality, addictive progression, and such a harmonious approach that you really can't look away from it.
Upon listening to this track, I had to take a little bit of a deep dive into the band's back catalog and I'm glad I did because they have released a handful of singles this year that all show such strides musically and how they can share their love for the craft of songwriting. There's also an amazing album from back in 2021 that you really should listen to especially if you're a punk rock lover.
I personally grew up with a lot of different kinds of punk rock and I can hear the different influences coming through with this band, and this is something that drives me to go and listen to a band's full catalog and track their evolution musically.
I can tell you now that this was incredibly fun with Rabies because they have so many fun tracks and you can hear how they've changed over the years without ever losing themselves in the process.
I would suggest starting with "Quitters" and working your way back to their stuff and believe me when I tell you, again, if you love punk then this is not a waste of your time whatsoever.
Check these guys out and remember where you heard it first.
