The New Professionals, a band out of New York, debut their first single, “Come and Get It,” a teaser for their forthcoming album Come Here Creature. The track kicks off with a solitary guitar, soon joined by the full band, evoking a sense of nostalgia for mid-2000s indie rock—the kind that pulsed through the scene back in 2005.
As the verse unfolds, the band deftly pares down the sound, only to rebuild it with layers that creep in at just the right moments. It’s a masterclass in arrangement, where the production remains polished but doesn't lose the raw, mic'd-up warmth of a band in the room.
The dynamics stand out, with the group intuitively leaning into ebbs and flows, delivering a tension-and-release that never feels contrived. The vocalist, too, flexes impressive range, adding another layer of depth to an already solid track. If this single is any indication, Come Here Creature is bound to be a strong debut when it drops later this month.
