The Latest Release from Juan Hernandez Hits an Alt-Pop Soundscape

The latest single release from Juan Hernandez delivers a sort of classic late 90s and early 2000s alternative pop soundscape that brings in elements of pop punk, and plenty more with it but what grabs you is the character that it comes along with which is something that allows the song to become extremely catchy.

"Daisy!" has one of those hooks that just bounced around in your head for hours or even days after the song has ended and the only way to satiate that is to go and listen to it again. Now, this may be attributed to Smart songwriting in general, but I feel like this project and Juan himself just writes songs this way naturally.

This is refreshing, super charismatic, it has just the right energy and levels to bring this pop color and edginess together throughout the track so that it does have that little bit of a punch, but it still comes through with a little bit of a bubbly undertone and I feel like it's the vocal approach and the instrumentation that really pulls that off.

The drums are a bit heavy-handed which I like because it lays out a big thick backbone for the track and it has a classic beat which adds to that pop approach, but it also has these clean guitars and this perfect bass tone that really lets the song come through robust and sort of full body if you will.

It's just got a massive set of hooks, and I feel like it's been some time since I've heard a track that boasts that harder edge but has that pop hook so strong that you just have to go listen to the song again.

There are a few attributes to this track that make it feel a little bit cinematic at times but, it's these layers of textures that give it a sort of alive and breathing feel. The way it's arranged works perfectly as well because the track is not really over the top in any way.

The entire dynamic balance of how the music and everything comes together is perfectly done.

Even the way the vocal approaches. The vocals are sort of subtle and away and there's not an intense range of notes or anything. It's pop music. It's something that you remember, it's something that you can dance to, you want to turn it up, you want to listen to it again, it is pop music.

For me, this track nails that early 2000s alternative pop aesthetic because this is the kind of stuff that you would hear on the radio very often.

Perhaps Juan is influenced by a lot of that stuff and it certainly seems that way to me.

Upon listening to this track, I took a little bit of a deep dive into the artist's back catalog of music on Spotify and when I did that, I found a handful of tracks that speak to not only his artistry but his personality as well because some of these songs let him give pieces of himself in there.

No two songs were alike, and you can hear some of the more rap influence on his earlier stuff but it's all very good and somehow, it lines up perfectly with songs like this one.

I'm definitely going to be keeping a closer eye on Juan Hernandez from here on out, and, if you're someone who loves music that's just a little bit outside the box, that pushes the envelope ever so slightly so that it catches your ear, as honesty, and isn't afraid to bring together a harder edge and a brighter pop, then this is 100% for you.

Check this track out and again, after that, go and listen to some previous releases because they're all worth it.

Dive into this one and remember where you heard it first.
