Releasing music since the early 90s, pop pioneers Sko/Torp have certainly paved their own path in the genre, and have since never stopped.
The duo has released 8 Studio albums along with several singles and EPs throughout their musical history.
With their releases, they take a different direction and branch out into other areas of pop music, while always keeping their sound firmly under the genre's umbrella.
Their latest effort, "The Beauty Of Life", is a very heartwarming type of song that still pushes forth that warm and inviting tone and aesthetic, along with a sentiment that feels good to be reminded of.
The point of this song is that the beauty of life is in just living itself.
This is such a realistic ideal, but one we often don't pay enough attention to.
The single is peppered with keys that build melodies behind acoustic guitars and melodic vocals, all building a vibe.
This is a very positive vibe and one that feels good. Listening to the song feels like a hug from a friend you haven't seen in a while.
It's a bit personal, but the statement of it is universal.
I enjoyed how they were able to put forth the element of personality throughout the song, but still have the messaging be the strongest part of it. A message that I think everyone can really understand.
During the choruses, you get a slide guitar that plays an instrumental hook underneath gorgeous vocals that present a lot of presence.
What a hook this is. That chorus is beautifully performed, as the entire song is, but the chorus itself is the part that really hammers in that message and gives you the colorful and rich melodies and tones that come together.
There's a wonderful fluency to this single that lets it feel lightly radiant.
The song fuses a few different genres together, from mainstream to contemporary pop, elements of synth pop, and some soul.
There's definitely a good amount of soul in the performances, and the song is also danceable and catchy from beginning to end.
This is a terrific song to listen to first thing in the morning, because it puts you in a great frame of mind for the day. It levels you out and lets you pay attention to your life a little bit more. It lets you sit back and cherish things for a moment.
The aesthetic of the single feels easy-going, a little carefree, light-hearted, and a little brisk.
The instruments are performed with an excellent dynamic balance, giving a subtle or softer set of tones, while the vocals follow suit, but can be a little bit more voluminous.
None of it is over the top, but instead tastefully approached.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a very catchy song, and aside from the hook, even the verses pull you into the song lyrically.
As it unfolds, you get more of an understanding of where they are coming from with that sentiment, and it is indeed an inviting one.
A lot of us should be a bit more aware of the fact that we should be treasuring the small moments in life, how we've gotten this far, and how we may be surrounded by people who love us.
This song is for everyone. Young, old, all walks of life.
Having such an extensive set of releases, I would also suggest you check out EPS like 2023's Celebrate, along with 2018's album Heaven Is On Our Side.
A lot of these releases have plenty of singles among them that stand strongly on their own two feet, but listening to the full bodies of work really gives you a great experience.
Absolutely kick things off with "The Beauty Of Life" so you can get a feel for their artistry, but many of their other works are well worth your time.
Don't miss out on this one, especially if you really like pop music with great messaging and the perfect amount of heart.
