Scott Klein

Texas-based Canadian musician Klein blends Southern Gothic and New Wave—raw Americana colliding with shadow and shimmer. His new single, Paper Cigarette, stoked in the appetite of Parisian nights, explores the ache of lust and detachment. It was recorded with Shakey Graves producer, RIAA Gold-certified Chris “Boo” Boosahda, and co-produced by Jonathan Tyler of The Northern Lights, known for his work with Nikki Lane, Paul Cauthen, and Reckless Kelly. Hey Lady track—a stark portrayal of a prairie woman, dulled by addiction and trapped aby silence, reaching for a way out. Erica Maier of The Garrys lends haunting lead guitar and harmonies. Lucas Goetz (ex–Deep Dark Woods) drives the pulse on drums and lap steel, while Chris Mason (also ex–Deep Dark Woods) holds it down on bass. Klein’s previous album, Jesse’s Hotel—featuring Leot Hanson of The Sheepdogs—earned underground success and a nomination at the Saskatchewan Music Awards. Tracks like Sunshine—a lament for a lost lover—and What’s My Name, which grapples with memory, disconnection, and scars, reveal the wilderness within.
