Packing take a much more personal approach with their 2025 single “Just as Bros,” a five-minute track that feels like a reflection on friendship, growing apart, and the complicated emotions that can come with losing someone who was once a huge part of your life.

There is something very honest about the way “Just as Bros” approaches its subject. Rather than simply looking back at a friendship with nostalgia, the song deals with the harder parts of that relationship too. There is a sense of missing someone while also recognizing that things have changed and that the relationship may not be able to return to what it once was.

The lyrics spend a lot of time looking back at shared memories and familiar places, creating this feeling of someone being unable to completely escape the past. There is also a strong feeling of wanting to reconnect while being afraid of what that meeting might actually mean. That emotional push and pull gives the song much of its character, because it doesn't try to make everything feel neat or resolved.

What really stands out about “Just as Bros” is that feeling of saying goodbye to somebody who was once incredibly important. The repeated references to an old friend and a sibling-like relationship make the song feel bigger than a simple story about two people drifting apart. It becomes a reflection on how relationships can change over time, and how memories can remain even when the person is no longer in your life in the same way.

Packing have also continued building their catalog around this release, following “Just as Bros” with singles including “How's Life?” and “Sunset,” before releasing the Loves Me project in 2026.

For me, “Just as Bros” works because it doesn't feel afraid to sit with some uncomfortable emotions. It is reflective, personal, and ultimately about the strange process of trying to accept that somebody can still mean something to you even after the relationship itself has changed. It is the kind of song that can hit differently depending on your own experiences, especially if you've ever had somebody who was once close to you slowly become a stranger.
