Nxxses Just Dropped a Dark and Edgy Single

A new single release from Nxxses delivers a raw and gripping edginess that feels like a lurking haunt or something that you'd hear in the intro or end credits of a horror film, and this gives it a very robust sort of character that you end up holding on to.

"Antimatter" has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to and it does so with a series of textures that come through with an aggressive undertone but with an eerie sort of performance mostly because the vocals are whispered and growled at the same time so you have this strange combination of hip hop and what would feel almost like a death metal.

The flow of this track lyrically is unstoppable and has such a unique phrasing approach that the words become rhythms themselves. I love that factor about this track because it sort of bounces off of the beat of the track, so it's got this great counterbalance aspect to it that feels really cool to listen to.

It feels almost like someone is whispering in your ear when you listen to this track and again, it does come through creepy but that's part of the aesthetic of the song itself. It's got that dark and eerie approach and that comes through super well.

This works amazingly because it puts you in this atmosphere that you feel like you get engulfed by and I honestly love the dark wrapping theme because you don't get it that often so when you do it's refreshing.

Again, this was kind of like genre-bending in a way because you don't expect those kinds of vocals to come through on a track like this but even the music part of the track has that same eerie darkness to it, so they go together really well.

What gets you is the energy. The balance between the vocals and the beat works amazingly because they have that same kind of energy to them, so you have the slow, creeping sort of haunt in both the music and the vocals.

I absolutely love the edginess of the track and how it comes through it was such a unique approach.

This song sticks with you for a long time after you hear it and you kind of have to listen to it again just to satiate that.

To boast the kind of aesthetic that it does, the mix of a track like this one has to be spot-on and done in a very particular way.

The vocals can be layered or doubled at times and one of them can be a little stronger than the other but they both have to come through clearly so that you can hear everything that's being said.

The beat in production of the song also has to be evident enough to drive those vocals as well.

The mix of this track was done damn near perfectly because you get the full effect, and I think that it hits the aesthetic that it was going for on the head.

This was an aggressive and gritty but soft approach, and the combinations of textures and soundscapes have a strange way of putting you in the moment.

It's been a while since I've heard a song that had me looking over my shoulders, but this one certainly did it.

This single is the first release and glimpse of an upcoming EP set to be dropped in October and if it's got more of this kind of stuff on it, I can't wait.

A unique and outside-the-box approach to blending genres and creating something that's got its own atmosphere, have a listen to "Antimatter" and when you do, I suggest doing it with headphones so that you can really soak in all the lyrics.

Check this track out and see how it affects you.
