A new release from Nathan Chartrey delivers an incredibly honest message and throughout the song, he gives such descriptive lyrics that you don't miss a beat in terms of the situation and everything that went down in it.
All of this gives the song such intense character in a way that you can't help it get attached to it all.
"The Things You Say" is a song that comes from someplace very real and the way it's portrayed is from his side of the story which as you listen to it, becomes more and more relatable if you've been in the situation before.
There's a lot that Nathan admits to throughout the course of this track, and I feel like it takes a lot of bravery to lay out that much brutal honesty yet for everyone to hear like that.
Then again, this is what makes art true art. The openness and honesty. Being able to articulate your inner thoughts for the world to hear is not an easy thing and I feel like to an extent, this song may have been cathartic for Nathan to write.
It's that straightforward honesty that really makes the track so genuine to me and also what gives it so much personality.
The track itself is this fresh pop and hip-hop combination that certainly feels like the type of song that would be on the radio right now and the production is up there with the best of them if you ask me.
The music and beats are very pop-oriented and there are sections of rapping and hip-hop that are involved so it kind of bends the genre a little bit but is as I mentioned earlier, very radio-friendly.
His vocal performances are really on point, and he delivers the singing sections with the right kind of approach for the song so that everything kind of has the same energy and the music compliments the vocals.
This is a smart move because he's putting out current pop songs and that's the kind of thing you have to think about when you're performing a track like this.
Your vocal energy has to match the energy of the song otherwise it just doesn't fit. This song was definitely well thought out and there was certainly a lot of attention to detail during the creation of it, but it never loses that character that purpose that it was meant for in the first place.
This just may be the most important aspect of the entire track.
I love the wrapping sections and the faster singing sections because during those parts he's able to squeeze in a lot and tons of those inner thoughts come spilling out, so you get more of that honesty, and it's done in a unique and sort of refreshing way.
I loved this track and how it blended that color and that edginess to create something that was severely honest and upfront.
This is a kind of combination you don't get often so when you hear it it's refreshing.
This song had a message to send, and I hope the person that I was meant for actually got to hear it but in reality, I feel like this was meant for Nathan himself so that he can get those things off his chest.
Check this track out as soon as you get a chance, and I would suggest doing so with headphones on so you can soak in everything that's going on.
I went and listened to it two or three times in a row just so I could catch all the lyrics that were happening even though I understood its purpose the first time around.
This sparked some memories for me so I would suggest checking it out and seeing what it does for you.
