DRS Records announces the release of Moonshine - After The Show. Similar to its backwoods namesake, this distillation of 10 songs includes a variety of ingredients, Western Swing, Bluegrass and dynamic female vocals. Adding to the mixture is the essence of hillbilly jazz none other than violinist extraordinaire, the late Vassar Clements. Vassar's fiddle is seamlessly blended with a cadre of talented string players performing on dobro, guitar, mandolin, and banjo. The final result is a near perfect production that will go down like a shot of the finest moonshine. The story behind the recording begins in rural Wisconsin in the mid 1980s. Moonshine, originally a husband and wife duo from Wisconsin, performed at a large country music festival. Here, they caught the ear of Vassar Clements who also was a performer at the fest. Clements invited moonshine to record at his studio in Nashville. In 1987, gathering together a handful of musician friends. Moonshine and company tricked to the Nashville studio and went to work. Vassar provided a couple of studio pals to lay down drums and baselines. Moonshine, now a group effort, were prepared and within a few days emerged from the recording studio with 10 complete tunes, 8 originals and 2 covers. Quite the accomplishment! Initially, everyone involved in the project was excited and the future looked bright. But like the old saying goes all good things. Come to an end, a long story short. The music was never released and over time. All but forgotten. That is until today when it was remembered. Rediscovered and meticulously mastered for the first time by Gary Tanin at Daystorm Music. Although an anachronism with regard to time, it is amazing how fresh and energized the music sounds to today's ears. Standout track "GOOD GIRLS (DON'T ALWAYS WEAR WHITE)" written by Corinne Lynn Brandenburg-Compton, the first single culled from the album, will be released January 17, 2025 on DRS Records via streaming and popular download services.
