Matt Woodman

Matt Woodman is a 27-year-old singer-songwriter from Heywood, Manchester who fuses the British Alternative with Indie Pop that’s been compared to acts like The 1975, Owl City and Coldplay. Matt released his first single called Bruxism in late 2020, which was met with positive reviews calling the song “a well produced pop piece” (Middle 8) and praised for its “ever-evolving production” (Polyphonic). Matt released his debut album, The World That We Live In, in late 2023. The first single from the album, Avoiding My Heart, received positive reactions, including a review from RGM magazine who called Matt “a force to be reckoned with”. It also earned Matt’s first play on BBC Radio Manchester as part of BBC Introducing. When the album was released, Happy Mag stated that “Woodman has crafted an album brimming with electro-pop anthems, seamlessly interweaving intricate layers of emotion and atmosphere” while RGM proclaimed “he successfully weaves electronic, pop-rock, and folk elements together, creating an album that remains engaging from start to finish”.  Last year, Matt supported South By Zero at their first sold-out show at Lock 91, which resulted in his first headline show at Retro. Matt also opened for David Woodman’s sold out show at The Met in Bury with a Live EP from this gig to be released in the coming months. Matt finished 2024 by being selected by Reverend & The Makers to play in their pop-up store to promote their Christmas single and raise money for Samaritans. Matt has just released his latest single called As Good As Me and will spend the rest of the year playing various shows across the UK, including first time shows in London and Cornwall as well as returning to Glaston-Bury in support of Bury Hospice.
