Keeping Time is the debut album by Luther Jenson — a songwriter from Southeast Alaska whose music feels both weathered and wide open, like the landscape he calls home. Recorded in Seattle with producer Garret Reynolds, the album captures the energy of a band playing together in the moment: spontaneous, textured, and human. Jenson grew up exploring the rugged Alaskan coastline, surrounded by rain, forest, and saltwater. His songwriting is inspired by that world; moody, reflective, and deeply rooted in place. The record features standout Seattle players including Jim Roth (Built to Spill), Guy Keltner (Acid Tongue), William Sage (Drums) and Seattle famous vocalist Shaina Shepherd. From jangly Americana to gospel-tinged ballads, Keeping Time is less about genre and more about feel. It just doesn’t sound like a first record.
