Brighton-based Livvy English was a vocals student hoping to break into the session industry when an encounter with Will Young at a masterclass, during which she performed for him an original song, made her realise that her future lay in artistry. From that moment on, her songwriting hobby turned into a professional ambition. Now aged 24, Livvy and her 4-piece band have been taking audiences by storm, performing headline and main support gigs in iconic venues including O2 Academy Islington, Camden Assembly and Dingwalls, and collaborating with War Child. Inspired by the soulful tones of Joss Stone and Etta James, the rockier musings of Jeff Buckley and Matt Bellamy, and the contemporary pop vibe of Lady Gaga and Dylan, Livvy combines her contemporary and classical training to forge a distinctive, emotive and powerful vocal style through which she provides a lyrical commentary on her experiences as a young woman in the 21st century.
