The latest single release from Linda Marks delivers a beautiful body of work with such luxurious and elegant approaches to singing and how she utilizes her voice in such a particular way. She layers these harmonies on in certain places throughout the song, giving this very bountiful but colorful sound, and when she does come in with those harmonies, it's absolutely gorgeous.
"Queen of the Angels" gives you a lot to soak in, simply because she tells quite an in-depth story and does so in a way that captures your attention with some detailed lyrics that are very straightforward at times, and because of that, you sort of paint a picture in your head as the song unfolds.
This is a warm song. The tonality of it is very inviting, and that's because it's got a beautiful Americana soundscape attached to it.
From rolling snares performed with subtlety, to violins performing these beautiful melodies throughout, and some amazing guitar work, to go along with all of the beautifully full-bodied vocal work.
Her vocals are indeed quite warm, but they also have this big feel to them. Even when she's not doing all those harmonies, she's got a voice that sort of reaches out and grabs you. It's theatrical, to me.
The song come although does keep to its southern undertone, delivering that Americana feel, does have that theatrical aesthetic, and I think that has a lot to do with her vocal approach.
The song really reaches into all different kinds of detail, and again, that beautiful description and storytelling.
A lot of it gets quite vivid, but all in all, the song is about trying to have everyone come together in a sense.
Everyone is kind of separated, and because of that, no one feels like they're on the same page as anyone else. The greater good, so that we can live as one, and this is how I interpreted the song.
She sings of the city of angels and how the people of it should be brought together and live in harmony.
She sings about fire scorching the Earth and asking about where the queen of the angels is now.
It's really all quite in-depth, and you really have to listen to the song to soak it all in properly.
Again, this is just how I interpreted it, and others may take it differently.
For me, I really enjoyed the sentiment of it and how she told her story with such great detail.
You can't really get past the gracefulness of her voice. There is quite an Elegance to it that really sweeps you off your feet for a moment.
She's got a beautiful way of bending notes and sort of making things feel like they're floating about.
This was a very wonderfully woven single that was performed with so much heart and passion that it just oozes out of every place it can.
This is part of what gives the song so much character and why you become addicted to it.
She's able to be straightforward and so detailed with those lyrics again, painting that picture for you vividly, but also be so incredibly metaphoric at times as well.
She brings together spirituality, harmony, history, and heart.
Quite an impressive showcasing of lyrical attributes, in my opinion
You can tell this is very well thought out and came from someplace real.
Linda Marks is a multi-award-winning artist and, from what we're told, this single is serving as the title track for her full-length album due out in a few months.
I am certainly looking forward to hearing that one to see where the songs will branch off to.
Definitely take a listen to this one and do so with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to soak in all of these gorgeous vocal harmonies that are happening throughout this single.
You will not soon be disappointed.
