A single from Lana Crow delves into societal approaches of the world we live in and how they can affect each individual person as well as the group as a whole. She digs into the aspect of self-righteousness and how we all turn to screens to get our fix, information, news, and media.
The approach speaks of how this is not really good for society as a whole. And she's absolutely right.
Now, this is just how I interpreted the song; others may take it a little differently, but for me, the sentiment was loud and clear.
The song breeds a great sort of pop-rock feel, laced with a contemporary and alternative undertone, beautiful flow, and has a bit of a charged personality that doesn't really hold much back lyrically.
This is one of my favorite aspects of the track, simply because we need music like this now.
Sometimes the song can sort of wake us up. This track serves almost like a wake-up call.
I think it takes a certain element of bravery to be able to put yourself out there the way that she does on this track and still come through with a single that feels slightly hard-hitting, again, a bit edgy, but very melodically driving.
There's something a bit youthful to how she performs on this.
There are some great melodies; she really belts out when she wants to, and has no problem sort of calming things down during the verses so that you're paying more attention to the lyrics.
The song has a bit of a closed-fisted attitude. I really enjoyed this because again, it takes some guts to come through this way.
I think it takes a little bit of guts to not hold things back when you're creating. This is what true art is all about.
She's expressing certain emotions, and although it's politically driven, she's portraying how she feels about these aspects.
She's letting us know that perhaps we should all be questioning ourselves right now.
I definitely love the guitar work on this track; there's some cool lead stuff going on, and the guitars, all those pretty clean and not really heavily distorted, still bear that same alternative edginess.
Perhaps this is because of the attitude of the track itself.
There's also something that puts you in the moment with the song, aside from those lyrics. Something about this track feels like a live performance, in a sense.
It's that energy level that comes through, I think. It's got this amazing aesthetic and energy throughout its entire course.
She boasts such personality and charisma throughout the song, coming through vibrantly, a little bit of fierceness, but also as a messenger.
I think it takes a lot of thought to be able to put something like this together as a whole, and it came through exactly the way it was intended for me.
This was definitely an impressive track, and it speaks volumes for Lana as a songwriter and a performer, because she's able to put this attention to detail into the song's sentiment and message, while still giving a robust performance, based on melody, but with a lively approach.
I would definitely check this out as soon as you can, and don't be afraid to turn it up because I think it was meant for that.
Doing this release is another new single called "What Brings You Back", which absolutely showcases how the artist can put pieces of herself into her music.
It has a little bit of a different vibe, but still a little bit of a sort of 90s and alternative edginess to it, while having a smooth overtone.
Definitely check these out, and you won't be disappointed.
