Kanude returns with a fresh approach and a collaboration with The McCrary Sisters which proves to be quite a musical match as this track comes through with a great southern soul but a jam and classic rock enthusiasm and vibe.
"Born Again in Tennessee" wastes no time coming in with an infectious guitar riff and tone for that matter. The whole thing has an incredible energy that serves the song very well as it hits with a sort of bright and vivacious, soulful approach.
One of the things that really hits the best about this track is the guitar work simply because that riff right from the get-go grabs you and just gives you this colorful and uplifting, spirited feel and this sort of sticks throughout the track but as it unfolds, you also get some great slide guitar stuff and more of that southern and Americana tonality coming out.
That classic rock vibe is so strong in certain parts of this, especially with some of the lead guitar work that comes later in the track and there is this almost rambunctious and vivacious set of sections that come through and give the song even more color and character.
This is a big factor and why the song works so well. It goes off such a unique and robust character that you end up really holding on to that.
The song has an outstanding vocal performance that actually complements the music itself because the band, the music, the guitars, the drums, everything that's going on, has such a great energy level to it and when the vocals come in, they really match that energy level perfectly so the whole song comes at you feeling really good but hitting hard in a certain way.
I dig the whole live performance vibe that you get from the track as well. It has an electric underbelly that becomes so infectious that it makes you want to get up and dance around the room.
That's part of the aesthetic of this truck anyway. Not exactly like a party track but a feel-good gathering of friends and a southern heartland rock style that just feels better the louder you play it.
When you listen to the song you can't help but have fun because you can tell that everyone involved was actually having a great time doing it. They took extra time to throw in all this fun stuff that just adds to that feel-good, gathering, party factor, and it all contributes to that character and that southern soul I mentioned earlier.
This was driving, charismatic, and vibrant through and through. The song will have you either singing along or dancing around the living room at a moment's notice and you quickly become part of the fun because the song puts you in the moment.
I also completely adore the gospel-style backing vocals that happen in the song too just making everything so full-bodied and so Lush.
Those extra vocals coming through add to the excitement of the song and make it more addictive and alluring.
We are no strangers to Kanude and the releases that the project puts out and I can definitely say that this was a refreshing course of direction because I wasn't expecting it.
Everything the artist releases has something new to bring to the table and that's something that I love about the entire project as a whole.
Bringing surprises to the table that feel really good and speak volumes for an artist, songwriter, and producer.
Check this truck out and turn it nice and loud because it just feels best that way. Soak in that soul.
