Iyla Elise Returns with a New Single

ree

Iyla Elise’s “Dark Side of My Heart” feels like stepping into a quiet room where every sound is intentional. The guitar work is gorgeous, threaded with arrangements that pull you in close before letting the distortion crack the calm. I love how the pacing moves like a tide, the swells arriving exactly when they need to, shaking the song awake without breaking its intimacy. The drums follow that same instinct, never overplaying and always holding back until the perfect moment.

There is a section where bass and drums lock into a breakdown that feels almost like an exhale before the song lifts again. I kept finding new little details, slight shifts in texture and subtle changes in intensity that made each listen feel fresh. The confessional tone in Elise’s voice carries the whole thing, offering a strange kind of comfort even as it circles around heavier emotions. For me, “Dark Side of My Heart” works because everyone involved seems to understand the power of restraint and when to throw it aside.
