Since beginning to write at age eleven, Isabel Maria has shape-shifted across genres and stolen the hearts of sad music lovers at all ends of the earth. Now eighteen and ever-passionate, she is firmly settling into the alternative pop genre, and doing it limitlessly. Based in Sunderland, she possesses multiple local and national titles, including being winner of the 2024 Alan Hull Award. At her roots a lover of language, Isabel grew up writing at a constant rate - plays, instructions, half-finished novels… until a keyboard from her grandad’s attic unlocked what her subconscious had been waiting for: songwriting. This introduced her to the wildly formative Young Musicians Project, and since then she has played her music internationally, amassed hundreds of thousands of streams, and gained support from the likes of Rolling Stone, NARC, and BBC Radio. For fans of Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers, and Gracie Abrams, Isabel pens down to earth songs that champion mental health and emotional vulnerability, sonically diverse but consistently demonstrative of her open heart and razor-sharp wit. ‘Her work transcends just being music, instead an outright rebellion.’ Existential Magazine
