"Lifeline" is a pop/rock song with less of a story than in his more folky songs. For Ervin, who has released over 20 singles since October 2022, working with Swanson brought a fresh dynamic to his songwriting. The collaboration shines a bright light on both artists' strengths while also exploring themes of connection and hope that run through much of Ervin's work on albums like "Broken Compass" and "Pure and Simple." "Lifeline" will be on Ervin's third album due for release in January 2026.
