Detroit Illharmonic Deliver A Massive and Eclectic Album

A new album release from Detroit Illharmonic delivers a lush soundscape quite unlike anything you might have heard before. The record is crafted with a wondrous and effective blend of instrumentation that leans towards a cinematic backbone, offering everything from guitars, keys, string instruments like violin or cello, horns, and some outstanding beats and percussion that really drive the record forward.

The record is called Everything Is Shattered, and it brings with it the essence of vintage undertone with twangy, reverb-effected guitars, loads of color and flavor, and layered melodies that are consistent and constant, giving you a lot to chew on throughout the entire thing.

"Welcome To Fear City", is one of my favorite tracks on the record and definitely showcases a lot of what I'm talking about. The drumming and percussion/beat on the track has rolling snares and wild and melodic horns like trumpets, and between those two things alone, you start to get this almost old western vibe. Then, twangy guitars come in and push that sentiment even further.

Then you have tracks like "Doo Doo On A Stick", yes, you read that right. Songs like this one deliver more of a pop coating, great colorful vocals, and deep grooves, bringing on some funk element.

This is clearly a record that has a unique way of bending and blending genres at free will, and they do an amazing job in doing so.

You can tell this was an absolute blast, and it feels almost like the whole thing may have been recorded live on the floor with all those instruments involved.

You can almost sense that players and performers on this record were feeding off of each other the entire time.

Between guitars, trumpets, keys, and everything else, it also feels at times that there is some improvisation involved, bringing on some jazz undertone.

"Who Loves You" is a sensational track that showcases a heavy-handed pop-rock soundscape that lends a hand to grunge and even pop punk in a sense. This one is a bit rambunctious but still has a lot of that color and vibrancy delivered on the rest of the record, just in a different way.

As you can already tell, there are a lot of different approaches and sounds to this album, and it keeps you on your toes in that sense.

This is something I absolutely adored about the entire thing. There are lots of surprises around the corners, and this is one of the reasons why listening to the entire record from start to finish in one shot is the best way to go.

You get everything from chill, cinematic, hip hop, indie pop, rock, and loads more, all rolled into this one fat record that is literally 14 tracks long and packed with character.

I would definitely dive into this one when you get a chance, and be prepared to be surprised because this is definitely quite a lush and deep diving record that somehow sticks with you long after it has ended.

Check this out now so you can hear exactly what I mean.
