Eclectica is the new EP from CameronStrings, and it lives up to its title without feeling scattered. What struck me first was how natural everything sounds, as if the duo captured a performance rather than built one. The guitar work throughout this EP is exceptional, both technically sharp and emotionally tuned, and the vocals match that clarity with ease.
“Don't Even Know You” opens with a simple theme of new love, but the delivery is full of genuine excitement. I loved this one. The chorus is joyful, the melody sticks, and the guitar playing is both elegant and inventive. It is an immediate standout and a strong way to begin.
“Drop Dead Gorgeous” shifts into a more playful tone. There is a hint of rock in the rhythm, but the acoustic and flamenco touches give it a style of its own. The arrangement leaves a lot of room for the vocals, and the whole track feels lighthearted and charming. The topic is straightforward, but the performance sells it.
“Even In Our Sleep” carries more weight, especially in the vocal delivery. The guitar work moves between picking and strumming with a natural flow, and the dynamic movement reminded me of 1970s folk records. “Missing Shade Of Blue” feels more introspective, though the chorus has an uplifting pull. The lyrics are poetic without drifting into abstraction. “Shut It Down” keeps the momentum, but “While The Music Still Plays” is the moment that stayed with me. The soft percussion gives the track a gentle swing, and the atmosphere is romantic, mysterious, and perfectly suited for a closer.
Across Eclectica, the musicianship is consistently impressive. I kept coming back to the guitar tone, but the upright bass, vocal arrangements, and subtle touches of percussion all contribute to the EP’s charm. It is compact, spirited, and full of personality. I enjoyed every moment. Take a listen.
