Asger Techau Releases a Personal and Eclectic Album

A new album release from Asger Techau delivers such a unique brand of honesty that you can't help but get attached to the character and personality that it gives off throughout it all.

The Candour album is a very eclectic and layered release with beautiful textures and surprises around the corners as it boasts everything from classic folk songwriting, alternative pop, dreams pop, and so much more all just rolled into one massive record that has a way of creating its own atmosphere with songs that feel alive and breathing in a way.

This is certainly a special record because not only do the songs feel like they serve as chapters in the artist's life, but you don't really know what to expect next.

There are such unique songwriting approaches, and the pop songs have a way of giving vast and almost cinematic undertones at times but also bright and slightly edgy ones as well.

It all depends on what the mood of the song is and what its premise is. No matter what, these are definitely personal and I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that by the time I got halfway through the record I began to expect the unexpected.

The deeper into this release you go, the more engulfed you get and eventually, the more washed away you become because that's what this album does. It lets you get washed away with the soundscapes and emotional backbone that it produces.

Believe me when I tell you, there is a lot of inner thought, emotional drive, and bits of struggle that this record portrays and it does so in such a robust but subtle manner that you end up finding yourself wanting more.

This is an album that you have to listen to in full. Listening to one or two songs might give you a slight gist of the emotional side of things but it doesn't give you anywhere near the spectrum of what the full album has to offer.

Musically it's so incredibly lush at times with songs that are more progressive or indie rock along with those classic folk and pop approaches as well.

There was definitely a lot of attention to detail that went into the creation of this record but it never loses that character, heart, or meaning and that may be the most important aspect of the entire thing.

This is a perfect example of a release that is created and produced with fewer boundaries than what you may be used to and I for one, find this rejuvenating and refreshing because it lets you into his world and that is something you don't get often.

Asger gives a little piece of himself with each song and it's up to you to take it how you may, but it all comes from a genuine place and that's what makes it so authentic.

To a point, it even feels like the record was cathartic for Asger to write and release.

Even so, there are songs that are very relatable. Most lyrics are very descriptive to the point where you can paint vivid pictures in your head, or memories of your own may pop in and out.

This is an album that has layers and it comes from an artist that has layers as well but is not afraid to express them in a way that is articulate and becoming.

I definitely enjoyed every track on this release and it's been a while since I've heard something that had such a sort of wondrous honesty to it.

The folk songs that are more acoustic guitar and vocals have a way of sticking with you and the more vast rock songs have a way of swimming around in the air that's around you, while the pop songs give that cinematic feel.

A great record.

Have a listen for yourself and I would suggest doing it with headphones on so you could really soak in everything that's happening.

See how this affects you.
