A new single from Arianna Kant delivers a massive and orchestrated rock soundscape that borders on a dream-rock approach and feels cinematic, vast and it's undertone, and very driving.
"The Storm Is In A Cup" is quite a wonderfully woven single and does bear as much color and soul as it does edginess.
The guitar tones on this track are stellar. They have the drive, the impact, and they give the song that sort of harder alternative rock style, while synthesized string sections come in and help build that orchestrated underbelly I mentioned earlier.
When you put those two elements together, it just feels amazing. She has created quite a robust and boisterous atmosphere that you get wrapped up in quite quickly.
This is a track with layers to it. It combines a lot of textures together to create something that feels sonically enthralling, and her energy level throughout the track certainly helps that as well.
Arianna's vocal approach has a lot of that soul infused in it. She belts out and has amazing lyrical phrasing so that the words that she's singing bounce between the beats perfectly.
There's another element about the track that just feels lively. It feels almost like watching a live performance, in a sense.
I definitely dig that aesthetic because it makes the song even more powerful.
When you listen to this track, you immediately want to go see her perform live, in your face.
You can hear elements of classic style indie rock in there as well, but the alternative rock tonality definitely takes over. There's some great lead guitar work in there that's more melodic than anything else, but it fits perfectly in the right place, and you can tell that the artist just had a blast recording this.
She's super into it throughout the whole thing.
Throughout the track, you also have a great groove. You can hear almost funky undertones shining through with certain guitar parts that bop along and give the song a wonderfully particular soundscape. Still, it bears more alternative edginess while this is happening, so you have a track that's catchy and flavorful while it still delivers all of that harder edge.
Although the guitar work and drumming are outstanding, it's the vocals that really become the point of focus.
Don't get me wrong, the drummer is outstanding and definitely helps push that energy level. As a matter of fact, it feels almost like some of this was recorded live on the floor, and anyone else involved with sort of pushing off of that drummer's energy.
Either way, this was definitely something that had an electric feel to it. It was alive and breathing, and she really brings on intense vocals at times, but still gives them catchiness.
I think one of the most important aspects of this track is that it bears a lot of character. I think it's the personality or the character behind the song that you end up really getting attached to.
You can hear a lot of different influences coming into play. You can feel some true classic rock styles showing face, and when she really wants to get intense with those vocals, she sure doesn't shy away from it.
Now, this is a really interesting turn of events, simply because we are familiar with Arianna's music, and I wasn't expecting a track like this from her.
The last record we got turned on to was focused a lot more on piano and vocals, more of a theatrical theme, still beautifully done, wonderfully performed, and amazingly woven, but this new track is a whole new direction.
I couldn't help but wonder why she decided to take this new direction. I definitely like it because it fits her vocal approach amazingly.
Her vocals are just naturally robust. She's got a big tone in her performance and in the way her vocals just sound in general, so having a rock backing really worked amazingly in combination with her natural vocal energy.
Have to listen to the track. I decided I wanted to find out why she took this new direction.
We ended up doing an interview with the artist to find out where the song came from and what might be coming up next for her, so, while you listen to this new song, have a read through of our interview with Arianna Kant below.
