Above Velvet Air

I’m Above Velvet Air, an independent artist crafting raw, emotionally driven indie-folk music. Many may know me as Zel Bautista, the frontman of December Avenue, one of the most-streamed OPM bands, but Above Velvet Air is my personal space to create without boundaries—where music is intimate, reflective, and free from expectations. With Above Velvet Air, I write, produce, and perform everything myself, ensuring that every note and lyric is deeply personal. My debut single, Close to Me, is a song about longing and distance, blending folk-inspired melodies with atmospheric textures. I also create my own visuals, including a lyric visualizer shot on my old Panasonic camcorder, featuring clips from Liverpool and London—adding to the nostalgic feel of the music. This project is about telling stories through sound and visuals, creating a space where listeners can connect with music on a deeper level. As an independent artist, I’m looking to collaborate with curators, tastemakers, and platforms that appreciate authentic, handcrafted music. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
