The latest EP release from Halvetestromb delivers a wildly thrashing crossover of classic, death, and melodic metal as it wastes no time with a fierce and fiery approach that comes along with intense riffs and ultra-high energy that doesn't let up throughout the whole record.
The Satanator EP is an absolute thrash metal soiree and its hard right from the get-go with shredding guitar tones, grueling and screeching vocals, and right off the bat, you got a riff that intros the album so that you know you're about to listen to something you're not soon going to forget.
It's not just the riffs and the precise but alive drumming, the shredding vocals or the rumbling bass, it's the fact that this whole record somehow sounds almost like it was recorded live on the floor, and everyone involved was just feeding into each other's energy the entire time giving off this super intense and massively driving soundscape.
The energy is completely electric from the very first second, this record starts, to the very last second it ends. I find that to be the most enticing aspect of it simply because if they can capture this kind of energy on record then imagine going to see them live.
The EP itself is a complete face-melter and so I would imagine seeing them live would be crazy.
This was a wild record and came through rambunctious, charismatic, and hit like a sucker punch to the gut.
This is everything I would expect from a good thrash metal record of course and these guys deliver that plus more.
I find it quite amazing that these guys can be so heavy-handed with their riffs as they come across so fast but they're still precise and tight at the same time. I grew up listening to bands like Slayer for example and these guys give me little hints of that as well.
The entire EP feels like a love letter to the genre and their influences which I found outstanding.
There's a lot that people don't understand about metal if they don't listen to it. Most people think that metal is a sort of simple genre but it's actually very difficult and it takes an extreme amount of musicianship
Especially records like this one. When I listen to stuff like this which I have since I was little, I get tired even listening to the drums themselves.
I can't imagine how crazy it must be to be behind the drum kit just destroying and how good it must feel to do it
Being in a band like this in any aspect must be therapeutic in a way.
These guys, for example, are all masters of their instruments. They speed pick that guitar the drums drive everything at high octane levels, at the base gives everything a thick undertone and pushes things forward even more, and the vocals or part of the explosive aspect of everything.
The synergism these guys have is killer. If you're a fan of either new or classic death metal, thrash metal, anything like that, then you're going to love this record and it's a clean 13 minutes long that is all a complete blitzkrieg.
The record will give you whiplash in seconds flat and they do not shy away from letting this thing hit as hard as can be.
This is the kind of record you listen to from beginning to end and you do it loud.
These are songs that you can mosh around the living room with, headbang to you all day long, or put your fists in the air and chant right alongside.
Endlessly fun and sonically driving, definitely listen to The Satanator from Halvetestromb as soon as you can.
