A ROTTWEILER GETS HER SONG

Somewhere in rock history, between the millionth breakup song and another bloke complaining about Hollywood, somebody needed to write one about the pissed-off dog downstairs.

Aaron Dilorenzo obliged. “Down The Steps” comes from his connection with Lacey, an old bandmate’s Rottweiler who stayed kenneled below their practice space when visitors came around. He found something familiar in her isolation. There’s your song: a guy talking to a dog because they’ve apparently got some shit in common.

Now Dilorenzo fronts Bones of Goliath, and the band has put their weight behind it. Their new live video catches the song at The Rex Theater in Morenci, Michigan, opening for Green Jelly. It builds, digs into the groove, and gets thunderous. Lacey’s little downstairs kingdom has acquired a sizable PA.

Gerald “Foam” Ammons has moved from bass to lead guitar, and this lineup is already working up more material, with preproduction underway and the studio next on the agenda.

Good. Keep going. There’s room for bands with some dirt under their nails and an odd story worth telling.
