A Massive Release from Genghis Bong

A new release from Genghis Bong delivers a vast and rumbling psychedelic fuzz tone rock soiree and there's a lot about this record that blends a certain kind of color with an edginess and along with some awesome surprises around the corners of the record, this thing boasts a lot of personality and you can just tell everyone involved as having an absolute ball because that seeps through in every single track on this album.

The SF PsychDoom album couldn't be titled better because that's what this whole thing is all about. It is psychedelic doom rock that rumbles the ground beneath your feet and gives you super deep grooves along with layers of distorted guitars creating progressions and melodies that have this classic rock influence at times.

There are lots of incredible guitar tones and effects throughout this record and that classic, vintage, old-school stoner rock influence thrives throughout the entire thing.

The thing that ends up being the most fun about this release is the incredibly addictive and electric energy that the whole thing produces because this album to me, feels like it was recorded completely live on the floor and everyone involved was just feeding off of each other's energies the entire time giving the songs the feeling of being alive and breathing.

Now, I could be completely wrong about the whole live on the floor thing but, either way, listening to this massive opus of a rock record makes you want to see them perform it live in your face simply because if this kind of energy is captured in the moment on record this way than seeing them live must be momentous.

The riffs are bending, swirling, aggressive but melodic, fun, and charismatic, and the drumming is all the same but adds this little extra drive that helps the whole thing push the envelope with bass that gives the song that deepening so that the entire thing really rumbles and comes through with power.

This is definitely a record that you're going to love if you're into real deal loose classic and doom rock because it encompasses old school and new school and puts them together to create this aesthetic that is impactful but still super fun and for people that play guitar, you will end up pointing at the speaker two or three times per track because you'll come across a riff or a guitar section that just blows you away for a minute.

I love this kind of youthful drive and presence because you can tell everyone in this band has a pure love for the craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments I mean building songs together and just letting them rip.

One of the things I adore about this release is the fact that you can tell these songs were written with attention to detail but there's also a loose factor in there too as if some of it is actually improvised in the moment which brings me back to the whole live performance recording aspect.

Were these songs recorded live? I can't be sure, but it just has that feel, and that works perfectly for a record like this one.

You want the kind of energy that just slaps you right in the face every time.

This record hits hard where it wants to, but it also has a beautiful dynamic balance to it, and it was done for the love of doing it and that's part of what makes it so damn special.

Check this record out as soon as you can and don't be afraid to turn it nice and loud because the ladder it goes the better it sounds somehow.
